Nice ethernet switch
This Linksys switch does what it's supposed to do. I was able to connect all 3 computers to it and had no issues with operating all 3 at the same time. I trust Linksys's products

Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch
The switch arrived ontime and works as expected. The power supply block died after a few hours of work. Very disappointing

Installed With No Problem
I decided to go with an ethernet home network because of its speed and secutity. I had a cable running through the attic to another room where I had a computer attached to the network. I needed to add another computer in that room to the single cable and was not sure how best to proceed.
After doing some research on the web, which included learning the difference between a hub and a switch; I discovered the switch should do the job I needed done. I plugged the ethernet cable from the router into port one, and a desktop into port 2 and the laptop into port 3. It all connected and worked properly once I had set up the laptop to connect to the network. It is now working perfectly and the switch is invisible to the network, but is quietly doing its job.
I am using the Linksys router and switch and they are doing the job I needed done. I am completely satisfied with the product.

If you need 4 extra ports away from your router ....
... don't hesitate to get this. Small, plug and play -- and for me it has worked for about a year with no problems.

work around for too few network cables
Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch
There are virtually no instructions for this switch. So I just guessed on how to use it and it works perfectly:
EZXS55W linksys work group switch in building #1:
port 1: wildblue satellite modem WAN
port 2: desktop computer
uplink port: 100-ft cable to building #2 (too far for wireless to work)
WRT300N linksys wireless router
WAN port: cable from building #1
router port 1: desktop computer
wireless 'g': laptop & visitors
All desktop, laptop and visiting computers now have access to satellite internet and only one cable was needed for the reach between buildings. So I am happy with my purchase.
