Could be improved
I needed to replace my HDMI with this cable (because cablebox output was locked when TV was off, so my slinbox wouldn't work, so decided to component out from the cablebox and use the HDMI for other stuff). The cable worked fine; however I do have some gripes that I'd like monster to address:
1) the color coding was botched. I had a green, red, blue, then red blue (instead of red white) so I wasn't sure which ones were audio vs. video. As luck would have it I put it in right the first time (it's a tight fit to get to my TV so thank God I "guessed" right the first time). PLEASE, ID the cables by using white and red for Audio, and clearly ID the red audio from the red video. Maybe write it on the stubby connector or something?
2) the may cable was somewhat fat. I realize they were fitting 5 into one, but still, this thing was quite fat, probably fatter than my TV power cord. I was expecting a thinner cable from the advertising and other reviews.
3) $35 is a lot of money for a cable. I've owned monster in the past, but now I stay away because they are cost prohibitive. Yeah, I realize they are making themselves out to be the premium brand, but common, how much did it actually cost to make these things, in China? Maybe if they were vacuum dialectric or something I'd want to pay that much, sheesh.
I just wish there were more companies that made this type of cable. I guess Monster has a monopoly on this one. Would I buy them again? Yes, now my wife is happy and can watch her TV from her laptop without going downstairs to turn the TV on. And I'm happy because she won't nag me. $34 for a nag free night? Priceless.
