Does the job
It's not as quiet as I had hoped it would be but for the price, I'm very happy with my purchase. Very comfortable to the ears and I would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

Totally disappointed
Having read all the positive reviews I thought I was getting a great product. Instead I got a piece of junk. After about 2 days of use I started to get an obnoxious scratching noise in the right ear which would come on and go away at random intervals. On top of that they, do feel painful once in a while. And, by the way... if you are adjusting them on your head, make sure not to press on them while noise cancellation is on, or else you get an extremely loud whine.

Nice quality but slight buzz
Overall these headphones are great they have a nice smooth sound without too much dampening. They are also very comfertable and arn't too bulky. I was disappointed with the bass, it may be my particular headphones but when ever there is a low or strong bass line in a song there is a buzzings noise in the backround. This sound is more prominent when the noise cancelling is on but besides that they are awesome headphones for the price.

Perfect item at a great price
My friend has the expensive Bose version and it is good, but not worth the extra money. Also this one uses standard batteries so no problem is you are running low on power, just pickup a back of batteries. Overall works great on a plane, in a train, and even in an apartment with annoyingly loud upstairs neighbors.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones I purchased these for a trip that included 33 hours of sitting in an airplane. They work as advertised. Cuts what I'd guess to be about 80% of ambient noise. Speakers work well. Some discomfort to the ears after several hours unless I made certain that I tucked the ears carefully into the space inside the earpads. Definitely keepers and will purchase another pair for my wife after testing these. Price at Amazon is especially attractive after comparison shopping. A great buy which allows one to get a little sleep on an airplane for a change!
