5 stars different isn't bad
This CD sounds nothing like songs about jane, probably because the band switched their drummer due to permant injuries. I do think this is a great album though. Both of their albums are great and very different. I think Adams voice is just as good as ever. This Cd has more of a funky sound then their last one. If you want to hear songs about jane 2 don't expect it from this cd. If you like funk, alternative, rock, pop and soul then this is a good cd for you.

2 stars Huge Disappointment
I really enjoyed Maroon 5's debut and the diversity of the songs and, of course, Adam's voice is to die for. When "Makes Me Wonder" came out, it was a very fun song and sound for them. When I bought the release, though, I was disappointed that the diversity was thrown out the window for songs that all sounded the same to me. Not to mention this CD is so overly produced it makes me want to barf. Just not my cup of tea. I find the songs to be weak, bland, over-produced, and unoriginal. I didn't mind "Wake Up Call", but it got old to me fast. "Won't Go Home Without You" is alright, but again - very bland pop. "Goodnight Goodnight" is alright, but the lyrics are so cheesy. The only other song I don't mind listening to repeatedly, aside from "Makes Me Wonder" is "If I Never See Your Face Again", but not the original version, I like the new Rihanna version.

Now I'll admit I don't care much for pop music, but this band really had something special with its debut, and now it's been thrown away for bland commercialism and cheesy lyrics. Hugely disappointing CD. And, no, I wasn't wanting "Something About Jane Part 2" either. I just hope they bounce back with a better release next time. The first few listens of the CD I kept thinking these were the lost tracks that were left off of Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" release. hehe... Blah!!

5 stars It won't be soon before long...
This album is simply fantastic. The songs are all at once heartbreaking, sensual, and desirous. It's definately one of my favorites.

2 stars Blah!
I must be getting old but it seems like more and more all you hear is profanity and sexual innuendo in today's music. This CD is dripping with it. Profanity isn't so profane when everyone is using it and using it often. I'm not one that is above swearing like a sailor but I'm getting tired of it in my music. This album doesn't use sexual undertones in the songs. Instead, sexual reference is the heart of many of the songs and the music, itself, seems to have somewhat of a disco quality to it. This CD was good for a listen but seemed to get old very fast and is now collecting dust in my media cabinet. I liked a couple of the songs but I'm happy I received this as a gift and didn't need to spend my own money on it.

2 stars C'mon, people...
I have been reading the seemingly vast amount of reviews for this album and it seems that nobody else is litening to the same album I am.

Maroon 5 has been on of my presonal faves for years, and love their sound. I saw them open for John Mayer and their effortless grove blew me away. Needless to say, I was very eager to pick up the new album, but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. It seems that both musically and lyrically, they didn't really have anything new to say, so they just tried to recreat SAJ, harder.

I'll admit the grooves statyed tight or got tighter, but just about everything else on the album is so forced, I can barely stand to listen to it. The increased over-production was like an already-pretty girl slathering on way too much makeup. The lyrics were so over-sexualized that I don't even feel comfortable listening to it by myself. The "hooks" sound like "hooks" instead of melodies, and the slower songs are the obvious product of sales strategists amped up on 'She Will Be Loved".

One more thing. Fans of The Police should feel insulted, at the very least. Sting probably lost sleep after hearing this one. There are so many blatant, poorly-recreated Police imitations that I had to go back to Synchronicity and set myself right.

Sorry all you positive reviewers, I wish the album had been a suitable follow-up, but it was a contrived effort at best. I may spin a few of the singles, but the album was a letdown. Let's get 'em next time, boys.
