Product Description: The Queen is Back! Legendary singer songwriter Donna Summer is back with her first studio album in 17 years. In the thirty plus years that Donna Summer has been making music she has never confined her artistry to just one genre. Although Donna is, and will always be, "The Queen Of Disco" to many fans, her hits have spanned multiple musical genres from Rock to R&B to Inspirational and of course, Dance. Summer helped to define the 70's pop music generation and Crayons has all the characteristics that made Donna an icon. Containing a potent mix of the up-tempo tunes and ballads, the new album showcases incredible new material that is written by Donna (who wrote or co-wrote the majority of her hits of the 70's and 80's). Working with Donna were renowned writers and producers including: Greg Kurstin (Lilly Allen, Pink), Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfield, New Radicals), JR Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), Evan Bogart (co-writer of Rihanna's smash "SOS" and the son of legendary record executive, Casablanca Records founder and Donna's mentor, Neil Bogart), and Lester Mendez (Shakira, Santana).

Customer Reviews
It's been TOO Long!
I found out about this new CD (her first in 17 years!) by accident. I ordered it...and have just about worn it out already. There are 12 tracks on this CD, and I enjoyed every one of them--something that is very rare for the garbage that is being released under the guise of music these days.
The CD starts off with four upbeat (and very danceable) tunes: Stamp Your Feet, Mr. Music, Crayons, and The Queen is Back. The Queen is Back is Donna's self-parody. I did a little reading about this CD, and she was actually reluctant to entitle this tune this name because she thought that was being too snooty! The one torch song on here is "Be Myself Again." It's words are haunting. "You can have all these hopes and dreams. The ones I can't use anymore." The last song, "Bring Down the Reign," moved me to tears. Although not pinpointed as to exactly what "reign" she's singing about, I think it would be safe to say Darfur and Rawanda leap to mind.
Ms. Summer wrote (or co-wrote) all these songs, as she did when she first began recording way-back-when. That takes talent, my friends. She doesn't have to be "over produced" because she can sing. My friends used to (well, they still do) kid me about a statement I made about her. I always said that if angels DO exist and they have a singing voice, it will sound like Ms. Summer's. Her pipes have not lost any of their power and I, for one, am glad the Queen is back!
Highly recommended.

Donna Summer's CD is GREAT!
I've always been a Donna Summer fan! Loved this CD...except for the added synthesizer "clapping" sounds. Seems to drown out Donna's vocals! Oh well! It's the new sound!
Anyway, I still loved the CD! Donna is still the disco diva! Her voice is terrific!...even at her age! WOW!
Love you Donna!

Yes, the Queen is BACK
Yes, the Queen is back. Donna Summer's latest project Crayons is a gem from start to finish. With all new material penned by Donna, this music will make you groove, smile and reflect on your life. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an album as much as I have Crayons. Thank you Donna. The Queen is back indeed!

Donna summer's CRAYONS...are very colorful and easy to listen to!!!
Donna Summer is probably my favorite female vocalist EVER!!! She always pleases an audience live, and also pleases my ears when I listen to her at home!!
I like every song on the album...but I feel that each song works better individually. It's still an excellent album...but for me...listening to each song from top to bottom makes me want to change the order of the songs...or just add two or three more songs to even out the concept of the album.
Let's talk about the songs. The best Donna songs for me are "The Queen Is Back", "Mr. Music", "Stamp Your Feet", "Science Of Love", & "I'm A Fire".
The other songs that I like to listen to when I'm feeling blue are: "Be Myself Again", & "Sand On My Feet". When I want to feel nuts I listen to "Crayons", or "Fame". I like "Driving Down Brazil" & "Bring Down The Reign"...but they don't match with this collection.
Since I am the biggest Donna Summer fan, I am going to be very picky about her vocals...I feel that the engineers have drowned out Donna's perfect voice. For example, on the song "Stamp Your Feet", Donna's voice doesn't sound as vibrant as it should be because of the latest vocal technology used by singers these days!!! They should just let the queen sing her songs without overpowering her vocals with robotic vocal sounds!!! The robot voice works great with "Im A Fire"...but this robotic sound should not be used throughout the whole song!! I've proved this statement by listening to her sing "Stamp Your Feet" on Entertainment Tonight...and she sounded the way she should have been recorded.
"Mr. Music" is Donna's best song on the disc. Her voice shines, and sounds like Donna. Donna always creates characters for each song...but I feel that she should use her real voice...she doesn't need to sound like anybody else!! Sometimes, in "Sand On My Feet" I almost think Rihanna is singing it!! Another great Donna song is "Science Of Love" because you can tell that she likes the song...and she sounds like herself.
At times, Donna is too breathy...especially on "I'm A Fire" where her voice should have sounded more robust, as on "Mr. Music". I cant wait to hear her do this song live!!!
Sometimes, Donna overpowers her own voice...especially on "Stamp Your Feet"...but she brings her point across very well!!!
I can get used to the idea that Donna has to get older...but I wish she would stop talking about her age, and making fun of it!!! It's cute sometimes, but I feel that as long as she looks good, sounds good, and is healthy...that nothing will stop my favorite diva from singing another 100 years!!! Rating: Donna's voice: A+ Engineering Donna's voice: C Original Compositions: A- Thank you...Kenny
