Customer Reviews

5 stars you get what you pay for........but here you get much more for less!!!
truth of the matter is that for under $225 -this receiver is hand down the best in the market :

> INCREDIBLE SOUND QUALITY: sound retriever feature is superb, makes compressed audio files ---sound like they're meant to sound,
> EXTENSIVE SOUND FEATURES: bass boost, loudness, Equalizer ,adjustable subwoofer levels, 2 way adj crossover, etc.
> FULL IPOD INTEGRATION with cables---just use your usb apple cable and your good to go!
> BLUE TOOTH READY WITH MIC & everything....no need for "adapters" or expensive cables ( no single alpine model comes like this...you have to buy adapters and cable....see how much $$$$ costs you at the end!)
> ability to download your entire phone book and more,
> way too many features to mention.

BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: ....if you want a better sounding receiver you'll have to go at least with the Alpine CDA-9886 which is $299 and you don't get the blue tooth ( unless you pay for the adapter -$100 more ) and you have to pay $25-35 for a special ipod cable ( KCE-422i iPod control cable )

there is no other product in the market which offers more for the money...period, do yourself a favour and buy this receiver...you won't regret it.....i know i haven't.... it was money well spent.

5 stars Happy so far.
So far I'm very happy with this product. Talking on the hands free cell set-up is awesome, sounds excellent from both sides. And the ipod is perfect. Only downsides so far, is the manual is on cd-rom, which means you need to waste 40 sheets of paper to print it out. And it's very hard to figure things out, even with the manual, and I'm a technical guy, but the customer service is good, and when you call they walk you through it no problems. Very happy so far.

5 stars Extremely satisfied with purchase
After a week of waiting for the groundshipping, I finally got it and got it installed 2 days ago. So far, I could not be any more pleased with this headunit. My car's speakers are all stock still and this unit alone makes them sound much better than I ever thought they could sound. I don't even think i have to replace my speakers anymore, just add a sub and i'll be all set.
The bluetooth works very well, even with my iphone. People can hear me clearly and i dont have to speak any louder or direct my voice towards the mic.
The ipod controls are great and very easy to use.
Overall, a great headunit from pioneer. Would definitely recommend it to anybody looking to upgrade their headunit.

4 stars Excellent for the Money
This is an excellent car stereo for the money. Lots of useful features. Excellent audio quality. The bluetooth handsfree phone features work very well. My wife says I sound better on the handsfree than I do talking into the phone itself. I really like the USB audio. I just ran the plug into the glove box and use an 8GB thumb drive. The downside to this unit is that the controls are rather difficult to figure out. Not intuitive. I had to really study the manual to get proficient at it. Based on controls I would have given it a 2 or 3, but for the price you get an amazing amount of technology, safer driving, and outstanding audio.

5 stars I waited for long, but at last got what I wanted!!
I was kinda 'stuck' with my car audio for long, and desperately wanted an easier way to play all kinds of mp3 in my car. To start with didn't have a cassette player n car, so playing an mp3 player (I hate to generalize as 'iPod') thru a cassette adaptor was impossible.
Then I tried, playing thru a FM transmitter - that's really awful!! Converting them to audio CD seemed the only option, but that's expensive to burn CDs for every new bunch of mp3s.
All this was because I was trying the cheaper option to convert my existing car audio to play mp3. Finally the desire to play the new mp3s quickly crushed the desire to save $$ and gave in to buying this, which I am totally in love with !!
My listening habit: I like to sample lots of new music, downloaded from Internet or elsewhere. It covers world music to rock to blues to jazz. So something that can handle all kinda freq range would fit me. When it comes to audio quality, I am bit of freak - I heard some cheap JVC car audio players, they did play the mp3s, the sound sucked royally.
But after reading some reviews, and having faith on Pioneer for car audio, I went in for this, seems to be complete with all you can think of right now. I am not at all impressed with the flashy animated dashboard display, and in fact quite irritated by people who have those. This system gave me the flashiest capabilities on my fingertips without any flash on the dash(board)! Couldn't ask for more.
I am a part techy and part musician - this system is the answer!!
I enjoy this so much, seriously, I an go on and on... playing the mp3s have never been so easier. There has been times, when I have added music to my USB on a stop light and enjoyed playing it on the way to work.
However, operating the unit is not really super intuitive, so while I am now used to it and go thru the clicks & selecs in a flash, others find it difficult to navigate!
I like the sleek design of the detachable face, looks futuristic, while not looking gaudy by the flashing animations on the display.
The ONLY feature I would have liked is where the radio picks up the title of the track being played on an FM station - I am forgetting the technical term for it.
This is also HD ready if you need, I don't have an iPod, so never tested, but it will work just like my USB stick.
Yet to setup the bluetooth, so sorry if that's what you were looking for. But the feature will come handy and right on time, coz California is going hands-free (mandatory while driving) in a month's time.
Overall, this system will satisfy the inner audiophile and geek in you!! Buy it, you'll never be disappointed.
