Customer Reviews
Best AIO on the market
First of all, I am extremely happy with the 5500 aio. I have owned it for 6 months. It prints beautifully, with perfect color, and ink usage/cost is reasonable. When I did have a problem I received excellent support. They sent the replacement part in a timely way so I was not inconvenienced in any way. Everything worked perfectly on the new setup.
I first saw the Kodak 5500 when I was just walking through a Best Buy and had been looking for some time for a new aio. I had a good feeling about it and liked the look of it instantly. When the clerk said they had tested it against all the other printers and it printed the best, that sold me. It was a totally impromptu act which I have never regretted. This product is a real winner. I also find the other features to work well such as faxing and scanning. The one thing it doesn't have that I do miss is the ability to convert the printed scan to a word document instead of a jpeg. If you could tell me how I could add that feature, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

frustrated
This printer has poor print speeds & quality. To top it all off Kodak wouldn't take it back because they only offer a "30-day guarantee." Do not buy.

Piece of junk, with junk consumables
I was persuaded to buy this product, in part, because of positive reviews on this site. Unfortunately, the initial color and black cartridges ran out in no time and did so simultaneously (although I almost never need/want to make color prints). I purchased refills at my local Wal-Mart in June . . . but the Kodak 5500 printer refused to recognize these brand-new color and black cartridges upon installation, "reading" them as empty in the information screen and refusing to allow the machine to function. Well, I purchased a second set of refills, same place . . . managed to get two months of occasional printing from them (I'm not a daily nor a heavy user). Today = crisis; the black cartridge is showing on the readout as two-thirds full, however, all my efforts to print simple one-page letters turn out totally blank. Junk, junk, junk.

good printer--great servcie
Got this printer about a year ago and have been quite happy. Ran into the print head issue everybody complains about a couple months ago. A quick (less than 5 minutes) call to customer service and a new print head arrived the next day along with a set of free ink cartridges. Printer froze up while printing once a couple weeks ago. I found I was missing a critical firmware update so I am hoping that will fix that. One freeze in a year is way better than my last two printers from hp and canon performed that's for sure.
Print and scan quality are also better than any other printer I've owned. Was so impressed with photo scanning and copying I'm working on making digital copies of hundreds of old snapshots before they deteriorate. Reprints look as good as the original, sometimes better.
One complaint is that I don't seem to get as many prints out of the cartridges as the literature suggests and the cartridges are not as easy to find. Even so, ink costs are still 1/3-1/4 of my last hp printer.

Great printer and scanner
I brought one of these printers for use at home and have been very satisfied with it. It will hang up a little at times, but really does a great job without a lot of work. I liked it so much I am in the process of getting one for my office. One of the things I like the best is that Kodak is keeping the ink prices reasonable, unlike HP and the other printer manufactureres. They have low printer prices but really rip you off on the ink. I like Kodak's approach of a fair price on the printer and the ink.
