Customer Reviews
So Far So Good
I just recieved this Kodak 5300 AIO last week. I read all the reviews on here before purchasing it. It was super easy to set up and get going. Ive had no trouble so far with printing, scanning or copying. The only thing Ive noticed different that the other all-in-ones Ive owned is this one is pretty noisy, but it doesnt bother me. I know alot of people on the reviews said they had trouble with the print head. So far so good. I was really worried about having troubles but so far its been great. I've always owned a HP all-in-one and loved them. My last one went out on me for no apparent reason so I ended up purchasing a Epson all-in-one that was set up to even scan negatives. I loved that feature of the Epson but it didnt last no time, just a little over the warranty so I started searching for and reading reviews on all different all-in-ones before actually purchasing the new Kodak 5300 AIO. Im hoping this is the last one I have to buy for several years. Time will tell, if anything changes I will be back to update my review. I would buy this again in a heart beat. As I was signing in to write this review I did notice that the price has went down from what I paid
$110.00 to $89.00 but I got the Free shipping on a order over $25 and they dont have that now on the $89.00 price.

You'll want to kill this thing
Seriously, how did this thing make it onto the market? It's seriously so backwards. If ONE ink cartridge is out, you can't do anything, even scan!! If the color ink is out, you can't even print with the black ink cartridge in black and white. And the print head on this printer has crapped out on us a number of times!! It occasionally prints a good photo, but it's not worth it. I've given up calling Kodak to have it replaced. Save your time, money and sanity - spare yourself from buying this devil of a contraption!!

All In One Printer
The all in one Printer 5300 Kodak I ordered is working fine but that was not my problem. I wanted to order the newer version 5500 Kodak but Amazon.com said they could not deliver as I would have to wait until this item was available. I am a Premium member and this unit had free shipping the other 5500 Kodak listed was from Target and I would have to pay shipping.
So I waited, and waited and waited for over three months and they still could not deliver. I then thought I would go ahead and order the one from Target but then that one showed they were not available. So since I wanted the Kodak I ordered the 5300 model and it seems to be working fine. The loading of the software was easy and when I studied all the system of where the paper and photo paper needed to be set it all works find. Just don't have your photo paper container pushed in as it will say you have the wrong paper installed. I just leave out the photo paper until I want to print some of my photographs.
This is a nice system but when printing documents it shoots the paper out and onto the floor. I wish there was a catch tray as if you are not there and printing more than one sheet your floor will be covered with the printed sheets.
I am still disgusted with Amazon.com for advertising the 5500 model with free shipping and then not having them available. Even saying you can wait but it never happened, I think they finally took it off their site.

Terrible product - not engineered well & poor quality
As you read through the reviews you'll see a similar story over and over again - ours is not unique. Basically we bought this all-in-one unit because we wanted to reduce desk clutter. What pushed us towards Kodak's model was the lure of cheap ink. Unfortunately Kodak doesn't know what they're doing from an engineering standpoint. Ours stopped printing black after approximately a month and while Kodak sent us a replacement print head, the problem has returned after another 90 days. Meanwhile we are using up ink at a prodigious rate because to get clean copies we have to constantly clean the print head between printings. The problem (as many other reviewers have said) is the way Kodak engineered it. Well, the other manufacturers that have experience (Epson, HP) knew about this problem and that's why they don't try to cut corners this way. At any rate, don't buy this printer! Kodak needs to figure out how to build printers first.
