Customer Reviews
if I had the boxes
If I had kept the boxes , I would return this Item. This is a very cheap quality and menu of a wireless phone ans system.
The Intercom is a Joke. Oh well, One loss for me, One win for Philips and Amizon.

Wont Register
I haven't been able to get this handset to register to the base despite several e-mails to Phillips and one aggravating phone call that took 15 minutes to tell me they didnt handle this product at the number I called. It's going back tomorrow.

Excellent extra handset for a great series of phones
I just purchased this extra handset for a base phone I previously purchased and reviewed: Philips CD 4401 High DefVoice Cordless Speaker Phone. In a nutshell, I like this series because it has a lot of options that, if you take the time to read the instructions, will make your life easier. Moreover, it doesn't have unnecessary options (like an answering machine) that I do not need. (See my review for the base phone for more details.)
It was very easy to register this new handset to my existing base after I read the instructions more carefully. (I had assumed I could figure it out without reading them. My bad!) I also found it very easy to transfer my existing phonebook on my base handset to the new handset. I like that if my caller ID list is checked on one handset, the indicator light for both handsets shut off.
Again, smart features, simple design, good quality. I love these phones.

Unacceptable!!
Highlights:
Pretty good range,
Attractive, small, easy to handle handset
Can't think of anything else
Lowlights:
No date and time stamp. A major flaw and inconvenience
VERY confusing to program and edit.
Difficult menu
Low volume
Confusing call waiting...controls not at all intuitive
Perhaps most irritating of all is the fact that the phone continues to ring long after a corded phone is answered.
I don't know what people are thinking that give this unit a favorable review.

Take reviews with a grain of salt
First of all, this phone is certainly not the worst phone ever. It could be improved. But overall this is the best cordless I have had in the past 5 years. I have had several Vtech phones (batteries only lasted a few months, similar to the GE phone), a GE phone(the battery only lasted 2 months before I could only stay on the phone for 20 minutes), a Panasonic (insanely low volume and the range was only about 30 ft).
Yes, the shape of this phone is a problem if you want to hold it with your head on your shoulder, but I don't do that anyway, I have a head set.
I have no problem with the volume of this phone, in fact it is much better than most phones I have had. If it's not loud enough for your taste the speaker phone works very well.
Programming the phone is somewhat of a challenge. Phillips could have made it much easier. And even viewing the Caller ID can be bothersome sometimes, but not always. To view who is calling when the phone is ringing is not a problem, but to see who called after it stops ringing involves too many steps(push the cid/up button then push menu/ok) and the way the phone displays the name and number makes no sense to me(sometimes the phone will display "wireless cal" then on the second line the date and time but there is no way to see the phone number).
The buttons on the phone have a slight delay when you push them and they feel soft, but it is not hard to get used.
I have not experienced any static with this phone. My favorite part of this phone, other than the price, is the batteries. They are 4 AAA rechargeable batteries and they really do hold a charge. I have had no problem talking on the phone for several hours at a time almost every day for the past month and a half. If that changes over the next month or so I will update this review.
I have walked outside of my house and halfway down the block with this phone during a conversation and it did not cut out or have any problems.
I am giving this phone 5 stars despite the few flaws because it is just so much better than all the other phones I have had. If Phillips fixes this phone's flaws on the next model it will be the best phone ever.
Bottom line, if you just want a phone that works, and don't mind a few eccentricities, buy this phone. If you want a phone that will only last a couple of months, buy something else.
