Product Description: You know it. With the lights out, it's less dangerous. These lullaby renditions of Nirvana's best-loved songs turn the volume way down, while turning up the dreaminess of their pop hooks. In many ways, this album echoes the simple pleasures and innocence of infancy and childhood. Childish tra-la-la's tempered the distortion of Nirvana's own songs. Chimes, glockenspiels and other gentle instruments temper Nirvana's wild spirit for your little one. "Smells Like Teen Spirit?" Smells like nap time.

Customer Reviews
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?
The grungey sound of the Seattle scene sounds perfect for the nursery, doesn't it,with the late Kurt Cobain, clad in flannel, belting out "Come as you are,as you were, covered in bleach"? This latest "Rockabye Baby!" horror attempts to turn grunge into kid-friendly songs with glockenspiel and mellotron. It's true Cobain sang of the umbilical cord and the uterus in "Heart Shaped Box",one of Nirvana's hit albums was "In Utero",and the legendary cover had a swimming naked infant... but that doesn't make Nirvana kid-friendly.
"Rockabye Baby!" turns Nirvana's eerie songs into equally eerie instrumentals. There are versions of "Lithium","Come as you are",and "Heart Shaped Box"... but it's music fit for a carnival in Stephen King's IT. Nirvana is hardly a musical paradise for the little ones.

Demented Clown Music
I have to agree with some of the previous reviews - "demented clown music" os an accurate description. It was just creepy and boring.

Not my cup of Pennyroyal Tea
This is just wrong on so many levels. I agree with the previous review. It sounds like demented clown music. What would Kurt say?
|
A little too scary - there are better ones in the series
I have the Rockabye Baby CDs for NIN and Tool, so I thought Nirvana would be just as much fun. However, these songs were scary. I'll be playing this as my Halloween music. Honestly, most of this sounds warped and evil. It's probably because Nirvana did not write very complex arrangements - most were basic and fast, and it sounds like murderous clown music when slowed down and music-boxed.
I won't be playing this for my little one, but it is very effective mood music if you want to terrify someone.

Who would have thought...
that Nirvana tunes would be soft and soothing as lullabies!! I love this CD and play it often for my daughter, especially during morning naptime. The melodies are perfect to lull her to sleep.
