Product Description: Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes, the second CD release from Rock Me Baby Records, proves once again that a lullaby can be comforting enough to calm a child and at the same time complex enough to please a parent. This diverse 16-song collection offers folk-renditions of lullabies from Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Yiddish, French and Australian traditions, among others. Although the lullabies are aimed for children ages one to five, the familiar, soft melodies work wonderfully for infants as well. With this album, Vocalist Susie Tallman provides a distinct sound much different from other children's albums; Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes is not tinny and sparkly but warm, clear, and textured gentle music that will link parent and child in the extraordinary way that only a lullaby can. This record combines an an exquisite soprano voice with a variety of instruments (including piano, dobro, guitar, harmonica, and violin) to achieve a layered, lush sound while remaining true to the simplicity of a lullaby. Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes is the company's second release, following gently and gracefully in the footsteps of Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams. Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes was produced and recorded in Melbourne Australia. The CD was produced primarily by Richard Pleasance (songwriter, musician, producer) as well as four songs produced by Mark O'Connor, keyboardist extraordinaire.

5 stars Couldn't live without it
Susie's beautiful lullabies are something that our family couldn't possibly live without. We got this CD when we were having trouble getting our 18-month-old to sleep at night and it's been the greatest thing that happened to us. Our daughter now goes to sleep on her own every night to the music of this CD, and I have to admit that I've fallen asleep to it on many occasions myself. I LOVE susie's work and this is definetly my favorite!!

3 stars She needs to lower her voice.
Her high, sharp voice ruins some of the songs. Hardly relaxing. I love "Summertime" yet far prefer it sung in a deeper, more mellower register. Although I certainly don't dislike this version, I just would prefer a deeper female voice to sing it. I'd love to hear Scarlett Johansson do a recording of that track. After listening to her debut album and hearing her beautiful, soothing voice, I long to hear lullabies sung by her. Would be so peaceful and comforting.
Susie Tallman really should lower her voice quite a lot, as enabling one to be able to drift off to sleep, it certainly doesn't! This album is okay to listen to if you want to hear renditions of the songs, but as a lullaby album it fails miserably. I know she has her fans, but I guess they like to hear melodies sung by someone with a loud, shrill voice, which is fine if that is their taste, but how can anyone drift off into a peaceful reverie whilst listening to lullabies when every so often the voice rises into high pitched shrillness, having the effect of jolting one back to wide awake awareness? This album was certainly a disappointment, I expected something really good after reading the positive reviews. Her other album, "Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams" was equally as much a bit of a let down too, if not more so. For a far more suitable lullaby album, try "Lullaby Berceuse. A Warm Prairie Night". By Connie Kalder.

5 stars Lovely sweetness to lull our fussy tot
My husband makes sure this CD is in the player before quiet down time! If that doesn't say a ton, than this might. My 14 year old sister-in-law come over to babysit. She used this CD for our tot and got her to sleep. Now, my sister-in-law has bought the CD herself and takes it with her babysitting. It's her little trick up her sleeve and her clients love it!!!

We as a family could not be happier that this CD is in our home!

5 stars Even works for colic!!!!
I received "Lullabies for Sleepy Eyes" as a gift before my son was born, and it soon became a staple in our colic-soothing repertoire. Now that he's fifteen months and far from his colicky days, "Lullabies..." is still a staple, a testament to how well it works. We use it in the car when he's fussy and often play it in the evenings as he winds down before bedtime. Some of my favorite tracks include "Suo Gan," "Dance to Your Daddy" (my husband's favorite), and "Waltzing Matilda," though every track beautifully performed and produced. Tallman's voice is amazing and if you don't watch out, you might fall asleep along with your little one. This is a wonderful companion to Tallman's faster CDs such as "Let's Go" (my personal favorite) and "Children's Songs." I recommend them all!

5 stars Soothing
I spent all day yesterday with my sick toddler trying to keep him calm and get his mind off feeling ill. We listened to all the lullaby CDs we could find and he and I both responded most to this one. I like the international flavor and the mix of songs I've always known with songs I've never heard. Tallman's voice is beautiful and definitely soothed my little guy. Favorite tracks: Toora, Loora, Loora (lovely) and Baloo Baleerie (hypnotic).
