An album with a deceptive beginning
The album begins with a simple progression of two chords played on an acoustic guitar. Soft, calm, and deceptive. The song soon transforms into one of The Shins' heaviest songs. Kissing the Lipless was a killer way to start a great cd. Chutes Too Narrow is filled with raw emotion and limitless songwriting prowess, no different from The Shins' earlier work. It continues to show off the capacious vocal range of singer James Mercer, and the overall range of the entire band. This cd is amazing and an instant classic.
