great album ahhh the memories
Everytime I listen to this album it takes me back to my high school days. I recommend this to anyone who was a teenager in the mid to late 90s. If you enjoy this alum, I also recommend buying the music video collection dvd.

Another one of my faverite bands , this is also avalable as a DVD video collection , anyways I say it's a must buy.

Very Basic Compilation
I never really understood why greatest hits albums only ever include 10, 12, 14 songs.. Wouldn't you think if a band/label is trying to convince you to purchase songs that have already been released previously, they'd at least fill it up with as many popular songs as possible? As you've read in other reviews, this compilation has its ups and downs. First of all, the two songs that I bought this disc for are "Can't Repeat", the single that the Offspring led into this release, and "Defy You", the single that appeared in the movie 'Orange County' (also a song the band promised would be in 'Splinter' but didn't deliver)..
This compilation is for the very basic fan. Most of these songs have been mainstays on your local rock radio for many years, such as "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)", "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)", "Self Esteem" and "The Kids Aren't Alright."

It has many holes in which the beginner fan may not realize they're being cheated on. First of all, this compilation only covers five albums. The self-titled release, which has stayed mainly underground, and 'Ignition', which is a strong album and wickedly underrated, have no part in this Greatest Hits.. Songs such as "Session", "Kick Him When He's Down" and "Dirty Magic" could've been included from the 'Ignition' disc.. From 'Smash', despite never being released as a single, the widely popular "Nitro (Youth Energy)" could've been used.
Two singles from 'Ixnay on the Hombre' were left off the album: "The Meaning Of Life" and "I Choose", and "She's Got Issues" is a no show from "Americana".. However, I was appalled by the fact that the third single from 'Conspiracy of One', "Million Miles Away" was left off, being that it's one of, if not my favorite Offspring song of all-time.

If you're looking for an introduction to the band, for $10 this is a solid buy, but by no means does this compilation live up to standards. Look into 'Smash' and 'Americana'.. They're the albums that the Offspring has used to fuel its fire. They're also working on an 8th album, which is due for release sometime in the first half of 2008.

easily could have been a five star album if......
they included at least 6 more songs to sweeten the deal. although the track listing is not bad its not the greatest either a very predictable track listing for that matter. they could of made this a double album with all of offspring's great tracks. like for instance my personal favorite that should be on here shes got issues, bad habbit, even though not a radio hit still a fan favorite, I Choose (another personal radio favorite), and a couple of songs from Ignition and there self-titled whats wrong with those 2 albums. I never realized they left off shes got issues until someone pointed it out because I thought they would have to add that song. some deep cuts would have been nice but this is a good introduction to anyone who wants to get to know the offspring. this is just another mediocre greatest hits album buy the rest of offspring's other cds to get the full experience with the band there radio hits aren't there best work. I'd start off with Conspiracy of One if you like mainstream offspring, otherwise if you want a raw feel get Smash and Ixnay on the Hombre. These are all great songs but it could have been better if they added more songs instead of making it short like every offspring album.

Hey, I don't own it, but the tracklisting...
...isn't too impressive. Sure, it has all their popular songs... but seriously, Americana was a pretty disappointing album on the whole (especially the singles). The tracks on this album are acceptable for an introduction to the Offspring (Can't Repeat is a great new track, too, and should replace Green Day's Good Riddance as the classic graduation song...), but really, I'd recommend picking up Smash and Ixnay to hear the entire albums, which are hardly featured in this collection. They're the best ones out there. So yeah... I'll rate this three stars, not because it's disappointing, but simply to deter customers from buying it and instead getting the goods! Sure, though, yeah... a nice intro for the "highlights" of the Offspring's musical journey.
