Avg Customer Rating:
Product Description: Weeds is a funny title for a show about a funny plant, so you can expect the soundtrack to have a good sense of humor too. It does. "Little Boxes" takes aim at suburban life, while, per usual, Nellie McKay uses her slightly precious sound to typical, sarcastic effect. Michael Franti & Spearhead's "Ganja Babe" and NRBQ's "Wacky Tobacky" capture the subject matter so well that listening could lead to a contact high. And tracks from the New Pornographers and Sufjan Stevens are there to remind us that Showtime knows What's Hot Now. Don't worry if you've never seen the show--you don't need to enjoy Weeds to appreciate this excellent compilation. Of course, there's no conclusive, scientific evidence of harm to those who do. --Leah Weathersby

Good cd just not enough songs, the one I wanted wasn't even on it, they need an updated cd

LOVE IT!
I love this ecclectic collection of songs. I'd never have known about so many of the bands that are featured on this CD, but now I am a fan of more than half of them. This is a great CD.

Weeds Soundtrack is AWESOME!
The 'Weeds' soundtrack is a wonderfully eclectic blend of musical genres with one underlying theme. Starting with Malvina Reynolds scathing ode to suburbia, followed by Nellie McKay's bouncy tune - "David". Classic Peggy Lee. Ethereal Sufjan Stevens. Michael Franti and Spearhead light up "Ganja Baby"! Seventeen winning songs that end with Hill of Beans "Satan Lend Me a Dollar" - just TRY not sing when that starts playing!! Well worth the money.

Great mix
I've listened to this ST straight througha number of times. A solid, exciting, mellow mix of good music whether or not you like to "medicate."
recommended for the music lover or pothead to enjoy.

HEY KIDS - BE THE FIRST ON YOUR BLOCK!
Malvina Reynolds' "Little Boxes" is indeed an older song. Still not funny to the people of Daly City, who DO live in boxes that are red, green, yellow and purple. When you become a doddering old grandpa trying to explain the significance of NIRVANA's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and your grandkids are staring back blankly, you'll come to understand the respect that is shown here for a song that ripped the flesh off the mindless masses of the 1950's - which are trying to re-assert themselves today (read any newspaper lately?). Aside from Roy Zimmerman, there are no satirists working today that have the bite and charm of Malvina. Her song about the mouse that f***cked up the computer was 40 years ahead of its time. Let's talk, after you put on a few more years!
