Product Description: Limited international two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) edition of Satriani's 2008 album featuring a bonus DVD that contains three live performances plus behind the scenes footage on the making of the album. On this studio album Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock, Joe not only delivers one of the most anthemic songs of his career, 'I Just Wanna Rock', but also for the first time ever on a Satch album he plays acoustic guitar: 'Andalucia'. As always, Joe continues to blaze new trails with his guitar and leave the others in the dust. Joe Satriani is the guitar. Plain and simple. No one else has ever been able to play with such pizzazz, such fluidity, such timelessness. Sony/BMG.

2 stars Nothing new here
This is a pretty mundane recording from Satch - nothing too interesting here. It's mostly listenable, but none of the tracks stand out either.

5 stars Professor Satchafunkilus ROCKS !
What can you say?
From album "Not of this earth" and "Surfing with the Alien" up to now Professor Satchafunkilus is agian a VERY VERY good album! I look forward to seeing Joe Live at Paradioso in Amsterdam June 23rd 2008!

5 stars THE MASTER
What's not to love about Satch. He's such a visionary, far beyond anyone else doing what he is. A guitarist for guitarists and more!! I have bought every album and dvd he has put out and have yet to get one that didn't make my jaw drop. His technique is flawless. His chord progressions flow seamlessly together while maintaining proper balance throught every song. This can be difficult to accomplish and when done properly the listener will know. Over the years I have watched him grow and mature. He is now a seasoned veteran who has much to teach us if we try to understand what his music says to our souls. I only wish there were more musicians out there like that.

4 stars the more listens the better >=:)
for the first few listens of Satch's new album only 3 tracks stood out for me, the others were 'meh/ok and 1 in particular i didn't dig at all and that was 'Prof. Satchafunkilus'. but as usual with me it takes at least 7 or 8 listens for an album to grow on me and it was the same with 'PSATMOR'.

i made 2 mistakes before listening to Joe's new album 1, i expect another 'Crystal Planet' :P and 2, i take my Satch songs too seriously sometimes. what Joe has done with this record is not only put a few heartbreakers (Revelation, Out of the Sunrise) & two songs where he just lets rip (Asik Vaysel, Andalusia) on there but some fun tracks as well 'I Just Wanna Rock' 'PSATMOR' and 'Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat'.
the 3 "fun" tracks as i call them are very good and just take time to dig, at least that's how it was for me. and the solo on 'I Just Wanna Rock' is fantastic!

i enjoy this album alot more then 'Super Colossal' - it's a cross between 'Is There Love In Space?' and 'Flying In A Blue Dream' both great albums. it's no 'Crystal Planet' but Satch has done a great job with this album i just keep playing it! 4/5 my favs. 'Musterion' 'Revelation' & 'Out Of The Sunrise'

SATCH RULES! >=:o)

4 stars Satriani is not afraid to try new things
Disclaimer: I have listened to Joe since "surfing", have almost all his works, and have seen him live. I am a fan.

One has to admit, Joe has made a good living and effort making a certian kind of album. Some might say he makes the same album each time. However, he is doing three things: One, pleasing his fan base. Two, experimenting with new sounds and textures. Three, keeping true to his roots.

In "Professor Satchafunkilus" one can find "old favorites" in the styles of some songs. You can find unique new sound experiments, and songs that just flat out rock.

A true fan will understand this. I am sure others will pick it apart because of the "new" sounds or different perspectives it takes on in his exploration of different syles of music. It is a good solid effort that I am happy to buy.
