Product Description: Yoga Nidra means "Yogic Sleep". It is a deep relaxation in which you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and enter into the deep sleep state, while remaining fully awake and alert. This state of awareness is extremely beneficial, both for releasing stress, and for experiencing the joy of subtler spiritual explorations or experiences. The voice will systematically guide you to explore your physical body, then move through 61 specific points within the body, and then practice ascending breath awareness along the body and spine. Your attention will be brought to the space between the eyebrows, then to the throat, and finally to the heart center, where you will go deep into stillness and silence, beyond the activities of the mind. Following the custom of the ancient sages, the depth of Yoga Nidra comes from inner awareness of the levels of your own self, including your body, breath, and the subtler mind, rather than diverting attention throuh music or inner fantasies. This inner exploring through self-awareness is a more refined form of meditation that leads you deeper into the stillness and silence of your own being, while remaining fully awake and aware. The Yoga Nidra methods bring you to a place of awareness where you are able to completely let go of any words, thoughts, images, impressions, or pictures in the mind. You are guided to allow your mind to "empty, empty, empty" though you remain fully awake and clear of mind. The practices on this CD will gently train your ability to direct your own attention, which is the primary skill in the art of meditation. You will find that you are gradually able to use these methods on your own, without the CD, and the benefits will be with you not only during your practice time, but also during the activities of daily life. The Yoga Nidra CD has five tracks. The first track is an introduction (8:02 minutes), describing the state of Yoga Nidra and the practices on the CD. The next four tracks move through four sequential practices that are listened to together, so as to form a complete practice of 57:24 minutes (CD is 65:36 minutes in total). These four tracks can also be listened to individually, as complete practices unto themselves, which allows you to have the benefits of practice when less time is available. After some time of practicing Yoga Nidra, you will naturally find it to be a most enjoyable and spiritually inspiring part of your life.

AWSOME-Great for those of us who have difficulty relaxing.
Bought it last week. I must say I am very impressed with this DVD. I am one who has great difficulty in taking time for myself and relaxing. I have a lot of stress which has caused much heartache. My counselor has suggested I try meditation so I got this DVD. That night I used it and was very impressed with the instuctors smooth clear voice. It is a very guided meditation that concentrates on body and breathing. When ever my mind started to wander, it helped a great deal in helping me to concentrate on me and breath. I was able be concious but be in a deep relaxed state. It helped me to release thoughts and stressers in a concious manner yet I was able to remain in deep relaxed state. I felt it also brought clairty to things that were causing the stress.

Great Assist
On the recommendation of a friend I ordered and began immediately using this CD. There are a number of reasons why I have recommended this CD to all my friends. The primary reason is that though I am still a fairly new practitioner of this particular kriya I'm already seeing numerous positive effects including a pervasive calmness post-listening which continues on into the next day (I listen to the CD every evening all the way through and then go to sleep). In addition, while I used to have occasional unpleasant vivid dreams...so far, those have stopped completely. The voice that guides you through to the yoga nidra state is one I find soothing and pleasant to listen to. The practice of bringing attention to various points of the body also appears to be assisting me in my daily meditative practice as well as helping me during the day keep bringing attention back to any changes of mood or mental states.
I highly recommend others try this CD for themselves and see how the practice and entering into Yoga Nidra assists the practitioner.

Don't be fooled by fools............
There are quite a few reviews posted here by people who know absolutely nothing whatsoever about the true purposes behind Yoga Nidra, which is in fact a branch of Raja Yoga and designed for reaching "the true self" existing eternally and behind all the many levels of consciousness.
Forget about blather concerning "lucid dreaming", "helping one sleep better" and all the other preposterous, imbecilic nonsense you read here in these pointless and know-nothing reviews. Such information and opinions are not part of the formula of authentic Yoga Nidra.
However, for the purpose of practicing AUTHENTIC Yoga Nidra, this CD is THE SECOND BEST CD available - the best is Experience Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxation which is absolutely superb. I can assure you that other than Experience Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxation there is no other audio cassette program presently available out there on Yoga Nidra practice which even comes close. Therefore, if you're SERIOUS about unlocking the supreme powers of your mind; and if you're serious about both exploring and controlling the various levels of consciousness; AND if you seriously want to develop conscious mental control over your bodily functions right down to the cellular, and even sub-atomic and quantum levels, THIS CD IS FOR YOU!
But to get the most from the content of this CD and/or Experience Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxation, it is crucial that you fully understand just what Yoga Nidra IS and what it was developed to accomplish. To do this, you must go to an authentic source of such information, and there is only one book on the subject of Yoga Nidra which will lay out every aspect of the practice and provide complete scientific and medical test results ( including color photos of brainwave differences, etc. ), and this source is Yoga Nidra
This book provides you with the "A to Z" details on Yoga Nidra and by carefully reading its plain-English content, you will be assured of gaining the most profound results possible in Yoga Nidra practice. In fact, this CD and Yoga Nidra are like a one-two punch that will rocket you beyond anything that you now understand or even imagine is possible as far as mental power and control goes.
But remember, using this CD and/or Experience Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxationalone and without a full understanding of what its content is meant to do is hardly worthwhile. Yes, it will produce profound results and progress, but you won't even know what these mean or why they are happening, or what you're even supposed to do with them once they appear in your life. This is why I say that the other reviewers who have posted here know nothing about what they're dealing with. Their input on Yoga Nidra is like the input you'd get from a three year-old child on the workings of the known Universe. Ignore the other reviews, take my hint about the book, and you won't be sorry.
ATTENTION! Note that the author of Yoga Nidra has also released a CD, which is beyond both this CD and the other one I recommned here, but unfortunately Saraswati's CD is not presently availble, so you'll have to make due with the book and one or both of these other CD's for now.

Great Meditation Experience
I'm saddened by the "1 star" review on this item. As someone who does a lot of meditation, and a variety of meditations, I enjoy this CD very much. Could I have done it myself? Yes, but that's true of almost every spoken meditation CD. But I didn't.
As someone who meditates frequently, I enjoy this audio CD because it has a variety of meditations, which I can mix up into various length "programs" of different lengths. It's not just the short version, the medium version, and the long version.
