Product Description: With rapturous romanticism and over-the-top, heart-on-sleeve emotion, Matt Nathanson can't decide whether he wants to be U2's Bono (particularly on the opening "Car Crash") or John Mayer (with whom he's toured as an opening act). Though his roots are in the folk coffeehouse, he plainly has his ears aimed toward the rock arena, as the propulsive "To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts" and "Detroit Waves" attest. "Wedding Dress" sounds like it's aspiring to become a first-dance standard, while the sensuality of "Come On Get Higher" suggests more stripped-down delights. A couple of lines here compete for the album's cheesiest: "C'mon let's make this dream that's barely half-awake come true" (from "Heartbreak World") and "What happened to feeling cheap radio songs?" (from "Bulletproof Weeks"). --Don McLeese

Customer Reviews
Jealous of the Moon
Matt's CD jumped out from a listening station. Several tracks jump out. "Wedding Dress" resonates with Matt's passionate vocals on a slower song with a thundering guitar arrangement, "Thought I lost you; Been jealous of the moon for how it moves the waves." The acoustic "Bulletproof Weeks" scores another impassioned vocal, "What happened to feeling cheap radio song? What happened to thinking the world was flat? What happened to that?" "To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts" has a catchy chorus and a driving instrumental attack with electric guitar and Jason McGerr's punchy drums. "Detroit Waves" is another pop blast with a riotous guitar storm and Nathanson's vocals, "...I was only there long enough to disappear." "Some Mad Hope" is a strong disc with powerful vocals, a stellar band and songs that stay in your head. Enjoy!

Matt is great
This is a very good CD, never heard of Matt until I bought the Sugarland CD and Come on Get Higher was on it. Matt's is much better.

It is that rare album you find once every ten years. Every song is fantastic and you can just listen to the album over and over without tiring of it!!! Highly recommend!! I am thrilled I have it!

Get Higher
Matt offers a truly genuine album with an effort more musicians should put into their album. I dare people to listen to this album and not enjoy it. No, it isn't the banter filled experience of his live show but has a full album replay value much higher than most released today. This wasn't a rushed effort to put a #1 chart topper on the market surrounded by a waste of time. This is a journey that Matt wants you to embark upon that doesn't leave you wondering why you spent $10 for one song. This is a prime example of a true singer-songwriter. The emotion and connection is deep in every song. It isn't a singer performing someone else's hard work. That is why his fan base is more loyal than the secret service. He writes and performs his music, not just for himself, but for his fans. There isn't a person I have recommended this to that wasn't satisfied and isn't now a fan of his music. Support a true musical effort and enjoy your new favorite cd.
