Product Description: With her debut album appearing at the age of 28, Martha Wainwright has lived in a musical world since she was born. She posses a voice with timbres similar to her brother, Rufus, and to her mother and aunt, Kate & Anna McGarrigle. She also has a way of stretching syllables out for reasons at once musical and textual, very much like her father, Loudon Wainwright, from whom she's also inherited a bold autobiographical stance, albeit couched in her own particular poetics. A bracing confidence informs these thirteen songs, from the bright shiny pop of "G.P.T." and "The Maker" (with the unmistakable voice of Rufus on backup vocals) to the fragile balladry of "Whither Must I Wander." Martha Wainwright continues the family tradition of audacious debuts. -- David Greenberger

5 stars Great voice, great music
When I heard this CD for the first time I was really impressed. Lyrics and music are perfectly matched. That's one of best female voices I've ever heard!!!

5 stars Beautiful Album
Every song on this album is just absloutley beautiful. It's a folk-rock album...kind of in a way, it's so many things rolled into one, it's just a beautiful CD that I don't think we'll be seeing anything like anytime soon. It doesn't have a lot of instruments and her voice is in full view, as well as her haunting lyrics. With lyrics such as the ones on 'This Life': 'I got the gun for my head/Wounds the brain, free instead', or those on 'Who Was I Kidding': 'Met the pain before dawn/Should never thought it would or could be easy/Been inclined to carry on/Hold my hard head and watch you walk out on me/See the tears they fall down on my hard head/Forevermore'. Her lyrics are just great, her music is beautiful. I could go on and on. I'm just telling you that you should definitley buy this awesome album!

5 stars Amazing!
Her voice, her lyrics, her style, her talent are astounding! She's tough but feminine at the same time and I really relate to that. I just adore her and this cd. She has her own unique sound that really shines among all singer songwriters today. My favorite song is Bloody MF'ing A'hole. Factory is great too. All her songs are great and I look forward to owning everything this woman makes. I don't want to build her up too much, I am content just keeping her all to myself! Although with a talent such as hers, there is NO WAY she'll remain an opening act. She's just getting started and she is going to be HUGE!

4 stars Husband and wife differences.
I really enjoyed this CD but my husband does not like it at all. She reminds me of Dory Previn.

1 stars martha mush
I had s strong dislike for this music(?) and was very disappointed. Listen before you buy or you may be as disappointed as I was.
