Product Description: Singer-songwriter Jonathan Edwards released this charming debut record in 1971. The album gained some mainstream attention thanks to the catchy political-pop single "Sunshine." Featuring rustic, acoustic-based ballads, and up-tempo numbers like "Train of Glory," Edwards's warm, gentle voice was surrounded by a group of empathic musicians collectively known as Orphan. Edwards sang his homespun tunes in a casual, easy manner, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and harmonica. The emotional centerpiece on this album is "Sometimes," a touching ode to the early-morning memories of a love long gone. A convincing vocalist armed with a batch of heartfelt compositions, Jonathan Edwards typified the young, folkie troubadours that were popular in the early '70s. In retrospect, this recording was also his finest effort. --Mitch Myers

5 stars Missing the days of My Fathers Place in Roslyn, NY
This is the album that sparked my JE addiction. I have lost count of how many times I've seen him in concert but always wished his shows would go on at least 3 hours longer!
If you want some great 'road trip' music, sing along songs or just an amazing voice to listen to, get this CD and then get all the rest!
You will Not be disappointed!
Great person, great voice, great music.
Every song brings back a memory.....

5 stars Jonathan Edwards CD
This wonderful CD takes me back in a flash to the late 60's/early 70's when I heard Jonathan Edwards, not the politician, perform live at the Cellar Door in Washington, D.C. Such a folksy, harmonious, mellow sound... Ah, those were the days of my carefree youth indeed.

5 stars Pure enjoyment
I looked for the popular song "Sunshine" and fell in love with the entire album. JE did a really nice job with it and I enjoy singing along.

4 stars Shakes the Spine Proper Enough
I bought this CD for my girlfriend after months of hearing "I wonder who this is" every time that jeep commercial came on. Upon putting it into our CD player for the first time, we were not disappointed.

Jonathan Edwards' voice resonates strongly with me. It's kind of an intangible element that is hard to write about, but when he is belting out words over his purposeful guitar, it feels like something is grabbing my spine and shaking it to the beat in a soothing manner.

My only criticism would be that his songs aren't that deep. Most of his songs seem to be about love lost or love gained, or the wanting of those two things to happen. Even though the song titles may suggest something else, if you wait until the chorus it generally turns into being about a girl.

So, the music sounds great and makes me feel great, but it's content isn't exactly anything you can sink your teeth into. With that said, I would strongly recommend this album.
