Product Description: Bossacucanova's debut, Revisited Classics, was proof that samba and bossa nova are timeless music. There's more of the same on their sophomore release, but the addition of bossa original Roberto Menescal brings added authority to a sound that can add subtle dance-floor beats and textures to the work of Jobim (including a very soulful take on "The Girl from Ipanema," or "Garota de Ipanema," as it's called here) and the Tamba Trio. It's all done so well that telling the difference between the vintage tunes and modern originals is impossible, while the programming seamlessly gives some gentle, funky oomph to the innately irresistible rhythms. Singer Cris Delano offers some sensual vocals to make the hips glide, sailing over languorous melodies. It's all as relaxing and warm as a day on the Rio beach. The song might not remain the same, but the feeling is eternal. --Chris Nickson

4 stars Good album
Good album. The songs Nos e O mar and Mais Perto Do Mar are amazing songs, great for those long walks along the beach. Really give it a try!!

3 stars if you like this then buy Uma Batida Diferente
I love Brazilian music--from classic Bossa Nova and Samba to the current remixes and new approaches. I think this album deserves about a C+. It's pleasant enough, but it's kind of flat--the tunes don't really come alive; they're a bit monotonous. They don't have the subtlety and feel of the classic bossa nova and they don't have the energy and rhythmic interest of the next Bossacucanova disc--Uma Batida Diferente. So if you like this one, then you really should buy Uma Batida Diferente (that one gets an A).

3 stars Good but not great
I bought this album at the same time as Bebel Gilberto's "Tanto Tempo", and i have to say i like Bebel's CD a lot better. This one is good, dont get me wrong, but it just doesnt grab me the way "Tanto Tempo" does. This album has more acoustic instruments and live playing, while the Bebel album is more sampled and electronic/minimal. "Brasilidade" to me sounds more traditional and more like a live band, while it has less of the loungey atmospheric electronics i liked in "Tanto Tempo". A good album, but one i play about half as much as Bebel's.

5 stars this one flew under my radar!
We as a whole...as a society, are class warriors. Exteneding out even to music. We don't things a chance because of pressure from others. Then one day, we get a peek behind the curtain and see what we are made to miss. We must let things in. Or stay stagnant. This album is one that should be let in and kept in constant rotation in your stereo.
Very good stuff.

5 stars Great!!
Bossacucanova puts on modern day arrangements to classic bossa nova tunes. Great addition to anyone's bossa nova collection.
