Top of the ladder
John Scofield has gone up the ladder 1 step at a time to reach this new album. "This meets that" marks Scofield finally reaching the top of the Ladder. Yes after all these years JS is releasing a superb album. Creative, tight and extremely satisfying; choose the right moment to hear this album; probably after a long day of work; pour yourself a Glass of Whisky, sit back, listen and enjoy. Highly recommended.

Excellent
I like Scofield a lot, and I don't know, maybe it's because this is the latest I've heard from him and it's new and fresh, but it's the CD I yet like most from him. It is just so good to listen to.

GOOD EFFORT BUT STEVE AND BILL SAVE THE QUEEN
Tuneful and charming but a bit boring and flat sometimes . To be honest i do not judge in a negative way MR SCOFIELDs great music value . Despite the good guitar solos , his timing and interplay is very distant rather too much forward with the other members of his band,and if it had not been STEVE SWALLOWs awesome electric bass sound and BILL STEWARTs amazing drumming abilities the result would be below average .FIVE STARS is given firstly because STEVE AND BILLs interplay saves the queen and secondly because JOHN SCOFIELD plays here like JOHN WAYNE in westerns ,with altruism and will .

This Sco meets with approval...
Just received this in the post a couple of days ago and found myself bopping from the first track. It kind of harks back to the stuff Scofield was doing with Blue Note in the early nineties. Almost like this musical season meets that season. Only his tone is warmer and the mix perhaps deeper but the angular melodies are still quintessential Scofield.

His sidekicks on this disc are truly inimitable in their own style... Swallow with his wiry vamping and Stewart his bouncy bop. And the horns add a rich harmonic texture. All in all then this is a very satisfying listen and as per usual the one thing that's guaranteed with Mr Scofield is that the melodies will linger long afterwards.

The first reviewer put it perfectly. This album is a masterpiece. Ignore the negative reviews as they probably listen to phish and widespread panic on a daily basis. Get this album immediately!
