Product Description: Scott Free's exhilarating, emotionally compelling new CD 'THEY CALL ME MR. FREE' features Scott as a blistering rapper, a muckraking songsmith, and a touching balladeer. Scott tackles subject matter as variant as the record industry ('The Emperor's New Song'), police brutality and the death penalty, ('Fair Trade'), anti-gay violence in schools ('Another Day of the Cruelty') and his anthemic call for world peace, 'Never Again and Again'. Scott's Beatles obsession is poignantly captured in his twisted but charming tribute to the band - a song that rewrites the Beatles history, entitled 'John Loved Paul'. Scott ends the CD with a touching, Cole Porter-style tribute to his partner, entitled 'Who Do I Thank?'. 'THEY CALL ME MR. FREE' is a shocking, thought-provoking, and refreshing alternative to what is popular music today.

5 stars **** FREE-dom achieved by purging his demons ! ****
Scott turned me onto a copy of this c.d. the other day at the gym . I took it home and played it around 3:00 a.m. on my headphones while staring out at the frozen Lake on a cold Chicago winter night . As I listened my immediate impression was that I had snuck into his room and stolen his diaries .After hearing it I realized that the pugilistic cover photo is indeed dead on correct. His lyrical themes pulled no punches and covered everything from angst ridden 'coming of age' reflections to unrequited love to Beatle-esque tongue in cheek fantasy , not to mention police brutality and HollyWierd hypocrisy. His dark humor , often biting as well as with a nudge and a wink is both political and socially irreverent .I found it refreshing that he sticks to his guns and in equal turns spews both venomous and humorous lyrics with no mercy ,often tackling subject matter that the vast majority of artists would run away from .In the end I felt that this disc was musical catharsis . An artist coming into his own by realizing that pain is indeed the touchstone of all growth. Take a listen to an unique perspective and expose yourself to another side of the human condition, you'll be glad you did !
