The next comedy superstar
I'm a huge fan of blue comedy (read: dirty), but Mike Birbiglia is currently my favorite comic, and he's pretty much anti-blue. He's hilarious, and pretty clean, for the most part. He doesn't so much tell jokes, as relate true stories in a hilarious fashion. I bought both his CDs for my 15-year old nephew as gifts, and would recommend them to ALL comedy fans 13 and up. Definitely something the whole family can enjoy, as long as the family has senses of humor.

Mike? More like Mitch
I like to consider myself something of a comedy guy - I have over 150 comedy CDs from all types; Cosby to Carlin, Maryellen Hooper to Margaret Cho. I've seen reviews that paint Birbiglia as another Steven Wright, but the truth is that he's much more like his recently deceased friend - Mitch Hedberg. Hedberg has always been compared to Wright, but Birbiglia is more Hedberg-ian. He's got that same chemically-influenced-sounding delivery, the same sort of odd joke material, and the same slightly simpleminded feel. Wright sounds like he's clinically depressed; Mitch (and Mike) sound stoned. People call Birbiglia a stream-of-consciousness comedian, but I didn't see it. His jokes feel more scripted to me; Hedberg was much more natural, and if you really like that stream-of-consciousness stuff then what you need to do is get an Eddie Izzard album.
Don't get me wrong, Birbiglia's funny enough at times, but he's never going to be one of the greats. Unless you're a collector like myself, you're better off buying a Mitch Hedberg album - because not only does Mitch do this style better, he does it with better jokes.

I'm the guitar guy at the party...
This cd is great, and the only reason it is 4 not 5 stars is because most of this material is a rehash from his first cd "dog years" which was a superior performance in my opinion. However, the new material that is on here is great and some of it even better than what was on the first disc. Listen to the whiffle ball Tony bit and try not to laugh your butt off. Also, Mike is a rather clean comic with very little bad language or sexual jokes. Enjoy.

Best in small doses.
I came across Mike Birbiglia on XM's channel 151. I have to say that I've liked him better there--one bit at a time--than on this CD. He does have some really good material, and he works harder on his comedy than most, avoiding the easy, profane laughs. This CD is funny, and family friendly.

Mike Birbiglia makes me laugh!
The "Two Drink Mike" CD by comedian Mike Birbiglia is so very funny. I got it for my 20 year old son, and listen to it myself all the time! So very much worth the time....and cost!
