Product Description: An all-star lineup of classical and pop musicians (including Kurt Masur, Andre Previn, Ray Charles, and Emanuel Ax) come together for a good cause on this disc (the American Cancer Society gets all proceeds). Most of the music here was written by contemporary instrumental composer Tim Janis, known for his uplifting, sweeping orchestrations. On the disc, these works are given sympathetic performances by the New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. Paul McCartney's impressionist composition "Nova" and the lush romanticism of Billy Joel's "Elegy: The Great Peconic" also get noteworthy symphonic treatments. Classical fans may be dismayed by these simple, sentimental themes that seem tailor-made for soundtracks, but there's no denying that this is all beautiful music. Previn loosens up his sleeves for a jazzy solo take on Cole Porter's "Why Shouldn't I," while Ray Charles gives a relatively straightforward vocal contribution to "Amazing Grace." This may not be earth-shattering music, but it's for a great cause, and it's all well-played. --S. Quinn

5 stars Music for the Heart and Soul
I first purchased this CD to play for my father during his battle with cancer. It had amazing, soothing, uplifting and restorative qualities. We played and replayed it, over and over. I give this CD as a present to anyone that is facing hard times. A percentage of the proceeds from each sale of the CD goes to cancer research. Hope it brings you peace and hope for your mind and spirit, too.

5 stars Tim Janis Does It Again!
I have been following the works of Tim Janis for several years and am blown away by the beauty of his music. This compilation by various artists fills one's soul by the depth and beauty of the music. Yes, it sounds like great music for movie soundtracks, but everytime I play it for others who have not heard Tim Janis' music, they immediately want a copy! It's THAT good. FYI: Call your local PBS station for information about the upcoming special, "Tim Janis Live From Lincoln Center" which has all of the music from this CD performed with the NY Symphony. I was fortunate to be in the audience for this fabulous performance. Don't miss it!

5 stars This Cd deserves a double 5 star rating
I can't give enough praise to this collection of enjoyable, peaceful, soothing, and relaxing music. I have 3 favorite CDs and this is one of them. I play this one so much that I'm afraid it's going to get wore out. I can't say enough good about this one other than....get this CD and drop it in your sound system, grab a cup of mandadin orange tea, sit down and soak up this delicious music.

5 stars Amazing Music
I was so excited about this CD when I heard about it...I got a copy right away, and the music just blows me away. I think it's wonderful that people can contribute something to help others. The melodies are so beautiful and at times I was brought to tears. This CD defines hope...I highly recommend it.
