5 stars Gotta have the Works
This Irish band consisting of siblings, three beautiful sisters and their handsome brother, have set the notch up high. The 'Works' is actually a combination of all their hits throughout their career. Unfortunately, the Works could be expanded to include many of the songs that deserve to be on this compilation. The selection was a hard one to make as all the songs tell a story that you can relate to in some way. The music is fresh, with Caroline holding the beat on the drums and bodhran. Sharon with the violin singing it's own irish melody as she pulls the bow across the strings. Jim on the guitar and keyboards showcases the 'unsung Corr' at his very best. Andrea has a cathartic singing voice that stays with you through each song. The music is very melodic and it opens your eyes to the traditional irish pop sound that is only surpassed by U2. I recommend this to any Corr fan or anyone looking for the distinct Irish sound. It is concluded by the unforgettable 'Goodbye (2006 Remix) that has a story on its own. This three disc set is a must have, and to thoroughly enjoy, you need to listen to all the other music from the Corrs.

5 stars The Quintessential Corrs Collection (So Far)!
If you are a newcomer to this talented quartet of siblings from the Emerald Isle, or if you have been a diehard fan since their 1995 US debut album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten, I recommend this collection highly. Not only do you get hits and remixes from the last dozen years, but you get some of the band's most outstanding tracks from their various albums. Rhino Records has always been a superior lable for releasing above standard collections, videos, and box sets, but this British import is a true gem. True, I would love to have seen the instrumental "Silver Strand" and "Time Enough for Tears," both from Borrowed Heaven on here. But there is plenty of the band's best music here to satisfy old and new fans alike.

From their classic rock-influenced beginnings with songs like "Secret Life," and "Someday," to their top 40 polished hits like "Breathless" and "Runaway," the band always stays true to their Celtic roots with Andrea playing a tin whistle, Caroline on bodhran, Sharon wielding her versatility with her stellar violin stylings, and Jim the musical jack of all trades on guitars, keyboards, and most of the songwriting. The band also displays an in-depth natural talent for amazing harmonies, particularly on ballads ala Richard and Karen Carpenter in "Closer," "Say," and "Intimacy."

Unlike other collections before, we get the pleasant surprise of acoustic studio versions of "Somebody for Someone," "No More Cry," and the new AARP theme "At Your Side." Two good new songs--at least they're new to me--are the energy-driven rocker "Love in the Milky Way," and the beautiful "Looking in the Eyes of Love."

Oh, hey, but it's all great, and this is from a veteran fan. Take it from me, this British collection is worth the price, and a Corrs compilation I can honestly say I'm proud to own. Get it because it's worth it, and you will discover it's the only compilation thus far that is this satisfyingly thorough.

5 stars The Corrs, The Works ! Just stunning !
I was a late arriver to the pleasure of discovering the Works of the Corrs. I only discovered the Corrs about 16 months ago. Since then I have purchased just about everything I could get my hands on. Then I discovered The Works, as a import product to the U.S.. After haing it delivered via Express service, I've listened to the complete tracks from disc 1 thru disc 3. I discovered several songs that I would have otherwise not easily olr ever found. This was to my complete pleasure as I've yet to find a track on the Works that doesn't either just stun me with great lyrics or hypnotic vocals, and/or just plain great music and great instrument blending. Being from the Untied States, I also have fallen in great love with the combination and utilization of traditional Irish sounds and musical fusion with great results. It's rare in todays instant acess to everything world that one can find or discover a new sound that can excite, please, emote or just plain become a persons newsoundtrack to life. I have discovered (for me) this new sound, voices, lyrics, emotions and great fun as well as some very romantic and moving sounds.

I can't wait until I can find a concert in Ireland for me to attend. Until then, for those Corrs fans considering The Works or those looking for the best representation of a very unigue, talented and very well done musical experience, The Works is a true journey of musical delite, it's on my speakers as I write !!!!!
