Better Than Their Studio Recordings
Cheryl Crowe was opening for the BoDeans when she broke onto the scene in the mid 90's. I knew of the BoDeans and thought they were halfway decent, but Cheryl Crowe was the one I went to see. Lucky for me, I stuck around for the BoDeans performance. They are fantastic live. To me their studio recordings were rather average and do not capture the band as they really are. I can't say enough about this album. Frankly, it is one of the best live recordings I've ever purchased. It has everything that a great live album is supposed to have. It has great songs, great vocals, and wonderful instrumentation. This is a band that must be listened to live and this album did a very good job of capturing their sound. I have rather expensive sound equipment and demand a lot from a recording. This one rates right up there with the best. All of the songs are good, but the gems are Idaho, Fadeaway, Paradise, Ballad of Jenny Rae, Lookin for me Somewhere, Far Far Away from My Heart, She's a Runaway, and Going Home. If you've only listened to their studio recordings, you need to check this one out.

Bodeans ate their best!
Kurt and Sammy started in the late 70s jammin' in the streets, playing together as a garage band, In 84 bassist Bob Griffin joined the band (who left recently for unknown reasons,) and Guy Hoffman on drums. In 85, they hit the studio, and in 86, released "Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams", plus 4 more studio albums up until 95, when this was released. They were put on "Party at Five" and had many singles, for 10 years. Then...BAM! A greatest hits collection consisting of 24 songs, old and new, whit good harmony, catchy lyrics, and melodic tunes. This cd sums up everything, in a double cased set. Although it does contain some foul language, like in "Good Work," and "The Ballad of Jenny Rae", or inbetween songs, like at the end of "Paradise," this cd was their biggest seller yet, so that is why I give this 5 stars, or 15 if I could, but Amazon doesn't have it. I reccommend this cd, any other cd by them, (not as much the music vids) and to see them live at least 5 times. I know I did. Plus, look for other artists such as:
Blink 182, Green Day, John Hiatt, Barenaked Ladies (don't let the name fool you,) John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hootie and the Blowfish, Counting Crows, Lyle Lovett, The Rippingtons, and Weezer! Bodeans rule rock 'n' roll!!!!!
