Where is the video of this concert?
Thanks John for your music, your work and your life. You are gone but definitely not forgotten, and your songs are only getting better with time.

I was fortunate enough to be at this show, most of the album was recorded the night I was there (opening night). In addition to being acoustically perfect the show was visually stunning, e.g. the incredible beauty of the video and images shown on three giant screens behind John brought tears to my eyes several times. This was back before they ruined the Universal Amphitheatre by putting a roof on it, and the views/moon/etc were simply astonishing.

If anyone happens to read this review who had something to do with producing this show, I remember seeing four or five high-end studio cameras filming the concert. I'd love to know what happened to this video (or film?) that was shot, and why it's never been released for public viewing. I'd also love to know if a version of this show (either audio or video) exists as it was performed? (Songs on the album are out of order.)

John Denver at his Best!
This is the best live performance from John's collection. He was fresh, just starting out and still having fun. I believe later on, he became very affected by the world around him and seemed unhappy and even frustrated during performances. I went to see him in the 70's at the Summit in Houston and they locked the doors and told us that nobody was allowed out during the performance (even to go to the bathroom!) because it was too disturbing to him. He because very eccentric later in life. This is the way to hear him, when he was truly loving his music and celebrating life.

John Denver at the height of his powers. This includes all the hits played with sincerity and passion. There is not a better John Denver CD on the market.

This CD is finally reissued with all the original tracks plus a few additional live tracks (which frankly are dispensable).

The quality of the reissue is impeccable - every instrument comes alive.

Essential John Denver
The reason I am so attached to this album is that I was working up in the mountains during the summer when "Rocky Mountain High" first came out. I miss the mountains (I live in Iowa)and I listen to the album to bring back the good times of my youth. I think my wife keeps "losing" this album and after a couple of years I buy it again. I lost it again during our last move. The last few months, my wife knew had a hankering to hear "Rocky Mountain High" so she bought me a different album with the song on it. The album was okay, but I ended up buying this album again.

This album is good because it is live. Denver interacts well with his audience. Denver is in good voice and he seems to be enjoying the time. The audience definitely responds to him. The arrangements of songs with the orchestra is fantastic. The selection of songs is good. I particularly like "Matthew" and "This Old Guitar." The album has a lot songs about life in the mountains, which I enjoy. I've heard other Denver albums, but I think this album has the best Denver has to offer.

Worth the money for sure
Some remasters sound too different from the original or do not make the original sound that much better. This remaster is VERY GOOD and is worth the money for those with an ear for music. Glad to have it.
