Product Description: Three Japanese gals with tenuous command of the English language but a definite knowledge of good ol' garage trash & roll. Unlike many of their retro cohorts who recreate the sound and feel of '60s psych pop and punk, the 5.6.7.8's romp through '50s-styled raves with panache. What they lack in vocals they make up for in musical proficiency. All six tunes are outstanding. --Adem Tepedelen

3 stars Be-bop-a-what
I am from a differant era, the 50's so what I am used to is the likes of Link Wray, Gene,Eddie and the rest. However after a listen I thought this was fine. They are full of engery and good muscians. I listen to all kinds of differant music so if you do the same give this a shot I think you will like it. I saw bands with my friends that sounded like this and they were from the hills of WV(kind of hard to understand if you get my drift) so I understand the humor in the accents.

3 stars Fun, different, so bad its good
Japanese singing English lyrics to rock n' roll surfer riffs ........ what's not to like? Fun to blast in the car with a bunch of teenage girls in the back seat who think its so bad, that it is good.

4 stars 5,6,7,8,'s Rock
I'm not sure they even know what their singing but they really rock and have a great enthusiasim for the music. They could put many punk and R&R bands to shame. I totally enjoy this cd.

5 stars Baam da Tweest
I suppose you could say that the 5,6,7,8's are an acquired taste, but like any acquired taste such as Guinness, Ricky Gervais "The Office" or super-hot chillies, they are exquisitely enjoyable once they have grown on you. With a raw sound that seems as if it was these three girls in a small room with 1 microphone, 1 amp and their instruments "Bomb the Twist" is delightfully under-produced in a modern world of over-polished twee production and x-factor manufactured clones.
If you enjoy a cross between psycho-billy, punk and japanese pronunciation of Rock'n'Roll lyrics, you'll love it too.
Think Japanese Cramps!

5 stars Pure rock & roll energy
Transcending the gimmicks and bad girl image they've adopted, The 5,6,7,8's play with a raucous energy and enthusiasm that combines a love of rock & roll with a skill that's sometimes concealed by the bombast.

There's a raw edge to their playing, a fierce love of the music that comes across in every song. They're not playing for anything but the sheer joy of it. It reminds me of the pure, breathless energy of artists like Wanda Jackson and Little Richard -- pounding, rhythmic, full of the spirit and soul of someone who completely embraces the unbridled passion of the music.

From the first track (and check out the force of the vocalist whose voice sounds ready to explode during the second verse) to the last note on this too short CD, The 5,6,7,8's cut loose on an incredible set of absolute rock & roll fun.
