Fierce and Flawless!
I was around 11 years old when this album came out and IT turned me OUT. The arrangement of the horns, percussions, strings and lyrics were hypnotic. Lady Ross gave the one and only vocal performance for this production. Listen to her dig into her high register on single "The Boss". Never before had Ross hit high notes like she did on that drive. Not only did Ross give a powerful vocal performance, but that Nick Ashford was not to be played with. He peed on the background vocals of "No One Gets The Prize" which is my second favorite on this classic album. "Once In The Morning and It's My House" are my other two, but "The Boss and No One" remains outstanding. In 1979, Disco was hot and so was Ross. Motown should have pushed this album to its limit by releasing the 12" mixes of "No One" which you can get a bootleg copy of now and "Once In The Morning". Unfortunately, they slept on this one. Even though this album never made it to the top 10 (pop), it was number one for us who wanted to hustle, dance and shake what our momma gave us. Everything from the album cover to the vinyl is simply delicious and impeccable! Work DIANA!

Watch it, pal!
"The Boss"?!?!? Ain't no ghost of a chance, buddy!
I've listened to this album in a music store, and I have to say that it is one of the most laughable albums ever. Diana Ross was a woman who had a sinister look in her eyes, which she used to manipulate her way to the top, and that poor fool known as Berry Gordy was manipulated by her evil spell that it meant his doom, and as if that wasn't bad enough, the woman can't sing from her heart although you blinded devotees who give her music five stars think otherwise. She had to look like Karen Black every time she made an appearance, and she also used her sinister stare to manipulate people into giving her what she wanted. It's no wonder that America is not receptive to this woman. She is a cold, unfeeling, sinister staring, selfish tramp who continues to live off the blindness of her devotees who are enslaved by her sinister influence for so long, that they throw down their hard-earned money for her music and eat it up like McDonalds Hamburgers. She continues to live with herself every day. She is a mess. She's a has been, as she has been all around.
This album is outdated, and yet the fact that people who gave it five stars are lying to you, and they stil continue to lie to you. Songs like "It's My House", "No one Gets The Prize", "The Boss", and "First Thing In The Morning" are the reasons why this album was such a huge flop in the states, but that was not all. The producers of this flop known as Ashford And Simpson may have scored hits of their own, but they were incompitent producers on this flop of an album. Oh, and what's with lyrics like "It's my house, and I live here"??? Guess what? Diana, it's not your house, it is mine, pal. Nobody, and I mean nobody tells me that it's their house and gets away with it!! Oh yeah, "No One Gets The Prize"? Tuff luck, pal. That song was not fearse. I'm not afraid of you, Diana. It's a good thing this album was a huge flop in the states, because people hated it. If you don't want to fall under the sinister influence of Diana Ross's evil cult, then do not, I repeat not buy this album. Do not touch it, and do not go near it.
So, Diana Ross, are you stil angry because I gave Vonda Shepard the title of supreme diva? Good, because I don't love you, and I do not fear you. If you really think you are "The Boss", then come and show me what you've got. I await you Diana...if you dare!
