Product Description: Kid Rock maintains a remarkable propensity for wearing his contradictions on his sleeve, and more than anything he's previously released, Rock n Roll Jesus finds fuel in unresolved opposites. Is he a hard-core chauvinist ("Half Your Age") or a would-be gentlemen ("When U Love Someone")? Is he a God-fearing everyman ("Blue Jeans and a Rosary") or a bohemian hero ("So Hott")? These questions are nothing new, even if the album at hand takes them to freshly delirious extremes. Ever since he first began shedding his rap/rock posture to be the next Ted Nugent, Kid Rock has constructed his public persona out of full-frontal ambivalence: race, class, sex, religion, money, whatever it takes. This album's bookends--the title song and "bonus" track, "Lowlife (Living the Highlife)"--demonstrate all this irreconcilable nonsense in no uncertain terms, but all his polar wobbling is at least stabilized by a firm commitment to southern-styled rock, tinged at times with gospel, blues, a lingering need to rap ("Sugar"), and a rare, soul-fed instrumental jambalaya ("New Orleans"). In the end, Kid Rock may be a remarkable self-promoter, but a musical Messiah he is not. --Jason Kirk

Customer Reviews

5 stars Fantastic!!!
This Cd is Fantastic!! Kid Rock has a mixture of slow songs mixed in with his more raunchier style. It is truly a Masterpiece!

1 stars What The Hell?
Rock N Roll and Kid "Rock" don't belong in the same sentance...it's an insult to ROCK N ROll. Kid Rock is not rock N roll or even rock n relevent. He's on the fast track at proving how irrelevent he is. Rock N roll jesus.....a hip hop/country puke mix is nowhere near rock and that butchered version of a crappy song "sweet home alabama" renamed on this crapfest album as "all Summer Long" is horrid. Kid "Rock" (word used loosly when saying his name) should just go away or change his name to Kid Krapfest or no talent Tom.

Who in the hell would listen to this. Rock N Roll jesus....he doesen't even deserve to use the word "rock" in his name or the title rock n roll. He is insulting rock music, and the rock gods need to punish this posing losera** retard. Kis rock doesen't know what he wants to be and no one cares.

4 stars the Rock n' Roll kid
I'm not a big fan of Kid rock, but I do like him and maybe other reviewers who are more familar with his music would be better to read then my review, but I do like this CD. It's a fine mixture of ballads, rockers and some very fun "summer" songs.

Saying that, I'm not a fan of his rap stuff, but the ballads rockers and songs he actually "sings" are worth the price of this CD. He does have a nice voice to listen to, and even if his die hard fans would disagree, I'd like to hear him sing more and rap less!! Which is maybe why I do like this one.. not much rap on it, more rap rock then just rap. One thing I do like about Kid Rock's Cds, he has a nice mixture of ballads, rock/rap and even throws in a country, almost hillbilly sound on this one, and he does them all very well.

I do have other CDs of his, and actually like Cocky more then this one, but it's worth the price for "All Summer long".

This is just an overview. I've only had the CD a week, but wanted to review it fairly.

5 stars Fantastic CD!
This is the Kid Rock I love! Plenty of songs with a southern rock feel, and many with lyrics that can really make me laugh. I bought it for "All Summer Long" but my new favorite is "Blue Jeans and a Rosary."

5 stars Did not know how versatile he is.
I bought this cd for the title All summer long, well I was amazed how versatile he is, my favorite song on this album, is New Orleans I can just close my eyes and listen to the mixture of instrumental music on that song from trompettes, harmonica, guitar, piano ect... also I got a kick from that country also, title Half your age, and the gospel songs also on that cd was fantastic, there is two songs with some ex rated lyrics but who cares, i am not a fan of Kid rock because of his hard heavy rock music but if he his again versatile on is next CD for sure I will buy it again. I have to listen again that New Orlens song
