If you liked the movie then you will like this music
My family liked the movie and we like to buy soundtracks so this one was one we definitely wanted. It is mostly instrumental but has an edgy rock feel to it. It is a good one for our collection.

One of the best scores of the past decade!
One of my favorite scores for the past decade. My soundtrack collection spans hundreds and I can never see this getting old! If you're looking for a nice hard rock-like score, this is it!

Orchestral rock
The soundtrack itself is a solid blend of electronica, orchestra, and power-chord rock guitar. Well having listened to this a few times I finally hear the "themes" to the film apparent in most of the songs. I guess that theme never was really displayed all that prominently in the movie itself. It's unfortunate because although it punctuates the action well, the soundtrack never was allowed into the foreground and get a hook into the audience. Some of the songs are a bit listless, but there are a few standout songs. "Merchant of Death" I have no idea why wasn't used more in the film, it's only used as Tony is racing his driver to meet Rhodes at the jet. It is an insanely cool electro metal song that I could watch Iron Man breaking stuff to.

Fine If You Liked The Movie
The music on this CD is mostly for punctuating the action scenes in Iron Man. Those looking for a something with more emotional depth like Danny Elfman's "Batman" Score, or John Williams "Superman:TM" soundtrack should look elsewhere. This soundtrack doesn't have memorable themes like those two CDs.

This soundtrack served the movie very well though. If you listen to the CD, (and you've seen the movie) you'll probably be able to picture the scene during which a piece of music is used.

I liked it, and I'm sure I'll put it on from time to time over the next few months, but in all fairness, I recognize that it's probably because I enjoyed the heck out of the movie. Aside from the hilarious "Institutionalized" track by Suicidal Tendencies, there aren't any real gems on this CD.
