Product Description: The SRF-59 is lightweight, simple-to-use FM/AM stereo receiver. Weighing only 3 ounces (84 grams), this compact player is a perfect companion for the track, bike trail or work area. The FM antenna is part of the headphone cord, so you are sure to receive a strong signal. The AM antenna is a ferrite bar type. The local/distant switch will help you fine tune the reception. Both the volume and tuning buttons are rotary dials, providing a nice sight-free way to make major changes to the Walkman.

Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-59. These headphones are open air type; the headphones will allow ambient noise to filter into the ear canal, providing a rich sound and keeping you safely aware of events, people and automobiles around you. The headphones provide ample dynamic range and sound. The Walkman requires only one AA battery, keeping the receiver lightweight and inexpensive to operate. When using a Sony alkaline battery, you can expect an impressive 100-140 hours of use. There is also a belt clip included, so you can carry the Walkman on your belt. The color is a sporty silver.

What's in the Box

Customer Reviews

5 stars Great little radio
I love this thing. I take it to Giants games at the beautiful Pac Bell Park in San Francisco. I use the ear buds from by iPod, and I listen to one while my girlfriend listens to the other. Perfect!

5 stars Big Results from a Little Radio
This radio provides excellent result sin a small package. Good for casual listening although I bought it to check out its DX ability on medium wave. It is excellent for a small platform unit that is hard to beat considering its small price. Highly recommended for someone that likes to chase medium wave DX.

5 stars Love my new radio
I received my new portable radio and started using it immediately. It's sound is wonderful and I love the convenient clip that let's me use it while I'm walking. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a radio that just plays music from the radio.

4 stars Easy to use basic radio
The battery life is very good and it does what you would expect from a basic radio. As you would expect for the low cost the headphones are only OK but you can get whatever you like since any standard ear bud, headphone, or earphone will work fine. The friend I gave this to was able to go to sleep while listening to the radio without worrying about using up the batteries.

4 stars AM "memory"
This little radio, even with the chintzy headphones, is worth the price. One thing about the beauties of analog tuning- if you leave and re-tune an AM station, you will increasingly get it better. Radios left on one station will gradually develop a memory and keep getting the signal stronger.
This applies to everything from ancient garage-sale bought GEs or RCA Super radios(both Thompsons)to Sangean ccradios, so you go from $5 to $200
Don't complain about mild annoyances, 10 $15 radios are worth experimenting with over one $150 model, which will turn into a disappointment. It takes a Sangean a year with its digital tuning to get the memory you have in a month with analog, and by then the digital read-out is dead!
