Couldn't be happier
I've had the Brother HL-2170w for about a month now and couldn't be happier with it. Printouts are fast and good quality.
I love the wireless! I was able to hook it up to my wired network, configure it with my WPA encryption in about 5 minutes. Then moved the printer where I needed it, plugged in the power and everything worked like a champ.
My 3-year old loves being able to hit the blue button and printing configuration pages... although I'm not sure if I like that part or not! :)
I read a lot of people had problems with the wireless, but if you follow the directions that come with it to the letter it'll go just fine, so don't be afraid of that.
Recommended!!

A great inexpensive printer
Setup was a breeze, print speed is fast, print quality is good and the price was right! This is a great home or small business printer.

Works like a charm
This product works very well - set up on my home network took a couple of minutes. Printing is very fast and clear. Accessing via our three computers was without a hitch - including a mac. I used the wired network connection. Only issue is the power surge when the printer starts up - it even causes the backup battery to kick in and occasionally trips the circuit breaker, depending on what else I have on. Never have a problem like this with my ink jets. But I assume this is the case with all lasers.

As expected
Arrived on time. Great price from Amazon. Still using initial toner. Printer wired into network with no problems or accessibility. Prints fast. No paper jamb issues. Occasionally does not print as requested but generally related to web pages in which the formating of the page is important. I may have solved this problem by adjusting some of the print settings. I find it annoying that to print onto multi-page forms or multiple checks you have to put the page in face down and forward. This means that you have to reverse the order of the pages instead of stacking them in as you would ordinary paper.

Got it for about $85 with free shipping. Great printer.
I followed instructions on how to make it work wirelessly with my MacBook and it didn't work. You're supposed to activate the wireless feature using their method and it didn't work.
I'm computer literate and have other Brother printers and I know I can get into the web server and modify settings. Well I tried activating the wireless feature and it kept turning off right away. I spent an entire day and it didn't work. Finally I tried doing it their way again and it worked.
Now it works and it works GREAT. I love the price, the features and I can't say how happy I am with this printer. I'd buy another one at this price if I had to.
