Product Description: With a complete set of high performance features and expandable functionality, the Uniden TRU9485 offers a full set of convenient options for busy homes. This set includes three handsets; the system is expandable to a total of ten but only requires a single phone jack. Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three dialed numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. You can transfer incoming calls between the handset and base, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate a handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions. A digital answering system with 15 minutes of message time is built into the base; call screening and recording are available from the handset as well. The base is wall mountable or sits sturdily on a countertop, giving you plenty of display options, and a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

What's in the Box

2 stars It works, but my old phone got better reception
I replaced my old 900 MHz phone with this system thinking I was getting a premium upgrade from a phone I purchased almost a decade ago for college and from what it looks like I'm not alone in this complaint. But then again others don't seem to have this problem so who knows. Maybe it's the building material in older homes or distortion from other electronics such as a computer, all I know is that when I go into rooms more than 30 ft. from the base I get horrible disruptions. I have the base unit in my family room and a handset in my office and it's bad enough where I have to leave my office and go somewhere more open to be able to understand who I'm talking to. My house is only 2,500 square feet. I guess I should have gone with V-Tech...

I also wish the intercom feature was a true intercom. What I mean is the person on the other side has to physically answer the intercom page, you can't just speak openly in the air to each other, what a pain, especially if your hands are full. Oh well, life goes on but I won't be buying another Uniden, sorry guys but not after what I paid.

4 stars A solid, functional product
A good, functional product.
PROS:
- Intuitive
- Comes w/three handsets
- Nice belt-clip which does not fall off. Didn't like odd shape at first but makes it easier to cradle handset when talking.
- Different rings for each handset and different callers
- Can get voicemail from any handset or base station
- Good speakerphone quality from handsets & base station (and no complaints yet from people we have been talking w/)
- Can label each phone in display (to know which of the three you are talking on -- helps keep track)
- Weighty enough to give a quality feel but not too heavy.
CONS:
- "direct link mode" function btwn handsets is bizarre & most of the time the "out of range" error appears.
- "Room Monitor" is a great idea but (while i don't have a baby) i don't think it would be that useful as a baby monitor.
- No blue tooth or wifi capability
- "Phone book" is archaic and unwieldy. Why can I synch up my tiny cell phone with my computer, Outlook, or Gmail address books but not my house phone?? No predictive text / entering in phone numbers manually is monotonous and difficult (though admittedly easier than previous cordlesses i have owned).

3 stars mixed reviews
speaker phone reception is great.
bad reception when far from base. our old phone had better reception at our workshop. with this phone, there is a lot of static.
you have to go through several steps in order to insert a "1" in front of the caller ID number in order to return the call or store in memory. my old phone gave that option readily.
i still am not able to make a 3way call. i used to be able to do by just pressing flash. doesn't seem to work with this one.
i like that the numbers light up when you dial -- quite important at our age :)
i like that when you press a speed dial number, it shows you the number (which means you really do not have to memorize the speed dial number you assigned to a number).
will i choose this phone over our old phone? well... i wish all their good features were in one phone! it's like the search for the perfect purse! :D

5 stars longevity rules!
I have owned this phone w the two extra handsets for two years and am very happy with them. They have a lot of nice features not included on many newer phones. In reading these various reviews there seems to be a predominance of users who have not read their manual. It helps.

2 stars Good and Bad
Pro: This phone has more features than I have ever see in a cordless phone. The features are excellent and other companies should take notice and follow suit.

Con: The battery life on each charge SUCKS. For a phone just coming off the charging stand, you would expect it to last more than a week with 3 or 4 calls. This phone won't make it. So ... if you put it down and misplace it, don't count on ringing it to find it.
