Product Description: Hatebreed's unrepentant heaviness puts other Ozzfest alumni to shame. The Connecticut-bred quintet combine elements of old-school hardcore with death-metal intensity for a metal-core sound that, with melodic guitar moments and double-kick drums, finds them equally suited for tours with Entombed and Danzig. On Perseverance, Hatebreed's major-label debut, the underground favorites have not sacrificed any musical or lyrical principles--or any aggression--turning in 16 tracks of unrelenting force, with most tunes clocking in at under three minutes. In "You're Never Alone," vocalist Jamey Jasta cuts to the chase in engaging his audience. "This is for the kids who have nowhere to turn, who have nothing to live for," he barks, encouraging fans to use "hatred to do the right thing." Especially anthemic is the shout-along "I Will Be Heard," while the speedy punk-mosh mania of "We Still Fight" is enough to raise blood pressures. If Slayer and Pantera are your idea of ear candy, Perseverance is just what the doctor ordered. --Katherine Turman

Customer Reviews
Something I would have liked when I was ten years old.
Yawn, another angry metal band.
I remember reading the notes on the cd booklet.
The singer tells the police, "You won't hold me back"
Moron, stop breaking the law every five minutes and the police will leave you alone. Do you really think the cops care or even know who you are?
Doubt it!
The lyrics? Juvenile!
The music? Standard metal fare.
Derivative drivel.
Nothing new or original here.
Just group of rapidly aging adolecents that haven't grown up yet.
Pass this one, unless you need to hear some whiny kid screaming about how unfair his life is.
I despise country music, but I'll throw the singer a quote.
"Here's a quarter, call someone who cares"

One of the best hardcore cds ever
This cd is the sound of revenge. Untouchable in it's sheer aggression and hate, this cd is the perfect soundtrack to work out to, run to, climb mountains to, etc. However, I try not to listen to it while driving, as it makes me want to ram other drivers out of the way. Unbelievable. Though I enjoy all of Hatebreed's cds, this one clearly stands out as the best. For all who suffer, whatever your pain, this cd will convince you to battle on. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Anyone who doesn't feel this sucks and should go cop a Blink 182 album. You can smell the blood and tears on this album. Buy it.

really good stuff
i really liked this album along with satisfaction so dont think that i am bashing it...but the problem is jamey jasta sings all the songs in the exact same tone, key whatever you call it or yells them i should say, which is fine, but all of the songs sound VERY similiar. the album (to me) quickly grew repetitous as i felt like i was listening to one very long song (the entire album). if i were new to this band i would start out with "satisfaction is the death of desire." on satisfaction the songs are yelled in the same way but the beats, etc are noticably different and better for that matter (at least to me). BUT STILL dont pass on this one either!

Well...
...this album didn't stand the test of time too well. I really never thought you could mix hardcore punk with monster metal, and Hatebreed is more akin to korn, only heavier. It's a lot better lyrically, because this album's lyrics really do have positive messages that most teenagers could use these days (and I do love A Call For Blood, I will admit).
What makes me really makes this album forgettable? You know, I could copy and paste Shotgun Method's description of why this ______ is as dull as dishwater. It really just doesn't click. IT's stale and repitive. Jamey Jasta's vocals are extremely monotonous, boring, tough-guy-like meathead, and despite him yelling, I just yawn. You can imagine someone trying to yell and scare you, but you only find them to be lame. Well, the whole band follows this concept, and everything just comes off like that.
Also, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge fare much better after giving them a listen this year, and it's hardcore metal that actually impresses me and doesn't bore me to death. And I also think that, despite being at least 20 years old, Minor Threat still blows them away with straight down hardcore.

Good stuff here
I only found Hatebreed a couple years ago.. perfect new metal band to listen to while I wait for Metallica to pull their heads out of their... well, you get it. You won't hear your girlfriend playing this in her Jetta, that's for sure. If there was ever perfect workout music, this is it.
