Product Description: Get the power of a full-sized laptop in the ultra-compact ASUS Eee PC 4G, which offers a full QWERTY keyboard, 7-inch screen, and preinstalled Linux operating system. (This laptop is also compatible with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.) You'll be able to stay connected to email and the Internet easily thanks to the Wi-Fi LAN (802.11b/g). Because it uses flash memory instead of a hard drive (with 4 GB of storage), the Eee PC is optimal for weathering rough handling and sharing space in overstuffed bags.

With a rapid start-up time, the Eee PC is always ready to get into action.

For the professional, the Eee PC comes with a powerful selection of software to maximize personal productivity--over 40 built-in applications. The Open Office suite of software enables the user to open, edit and create documents, presentations, spreadsheets and databases that are compatible with Microsoft Office. For journalists, photographers and other professionals who need to use a computer in the field to create, to communicate and to collaborate with other colleagues, the Eee PC's combination of power, extreme portability and rugged build makes it the ideal computing solution.

It's also a great choice for young students, with a built-in Dictionary that's great for homework, and it includes two modes of intuitive graphic user interface design to accommodate both experienced and inexperienced PC users. The Eee PC also handles your digital images, movies, and music as well as Internet radio.

No technical manual required with the specially designed, user-friendly, and intuitive graphic interface.
Compact and highly portable at just 32 ounces, the Eee PC 4G has a 7-inch wide color TFT LCD with an 800 x 480-pixel resolution (WXGA). Under the hood is a 900 MHz Intel Mobile CPU with integrated Intel graphics processor, 512 MB of RAM (not expandable), and 4 GB of solid-state flash memory. With the dependable solid-state disk, you get unparalleled shock-protection and reliability. In addition to its wireless LAN, it also offers wired Fast Ethernet connectivity. The Eee PC includes software for Web browsing (Firefox), email, OpenOffice 2.0 for creating and editing word processing documents and spreadsheets, and a suite of other productivity software to help keep you on track.

You get three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output for connecting to external monitors, headphone and microphone jacks, and a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot. The Eee PC measures 8.9 x 6.5 x 1.4 inches, and it weighs 32 ounces. The 4-cell, 5200 mAh battery provides up to 3.5 hours of battery life (depending on usage). It's backed by a 1 year warranty for parts and labor.

2 stars contact us doesn't contact
There is no way to reach "technical assistance" via the email address offered. I emailed and a month later I'm still waiting for the reply. The keyboard is too small for my fingers - "help" page offers limited help for operating instructions.

5 stars Totally cool
This is a great, great, great little machine. I bought it as a supplement to my bigger laptop, so I could have a cheap machine to carry around on a daily basis. I worried that the keyboard might be a little too small, but it's fine once I adjust to it. I do translations and write pretty extensively on it. Also, it's fairly simple to get the OS out of idiot mode and turn on the KDE linux OS, and it makes a world of difference. KDE has more tools that help you get around with the small screen - for example, two desktops you can tab between, keeping your word processor on one and your web browser on the other. Problems include the speakers, which I've found to be weak and kind of tinny; it's slow coming off sleep mode; the wireless can be a little tempermental, although better in KDE; and if you're getting the Surf, make sure the get one of the newer batteries as well, as the battery that comes with the Surf only lasts about 2.5 hrs.

5 stars Love it!!!
Got this less than a week ago & it is better than I was expecting. Even with the amount of RAM & the processor...I can play AVI files & WMA/WMV files without any issues in Xandros. Have a 2 GB stick of memory on order...as well as an external CD/DVD case. Will be loading Windows onto this for use with my HAM radio software.

If you are looking for a case for this...I found an insulated lunchbox works perfect. Not only are these padded & will protect your Eee...but with outside pockets...you have room to carry everything you want with one case.

5 stars Mighty mite
Tiny but usable, rugged and powerful, this is the ideal computer for someone who wants great portability and full, if basic, features. If, like most computer users, you use your machine mainly for email, web surfing, maybe some word processing and spreadsheet work, you can't beat the ASUS. Everything you need and very little you don't. Definitely get a USB mouse to go with it, though, you'll go crazy trying to work with the little touchpad. A portable DVD player case makes a perfect carrying case, available for $10-15.

1 stars Asus Laptop EeePC works slow has bugs
I ordered the EeePC in Pearl White but I received it flat white I figured it is just the color so I would live with it. I used it for a short time and found it very slow and would lock up from time to time. I decided to return it due to poor product performance and wrong color from original order. I feel the company needs to work out the rest of the bugs before releasing it to the general public.
