Customer Reviews
Great Value!
Before writing a review, It is very important to keep in mind how much are you paying for a Laptop and your expectations should be based on that fact. I bought mine for $599 and I wasn't expecting the fastest or the lightest laptop in the market, I was expecting a Laptop with the essentials for my everyday needs. This Laptop by far exceeded my expectations, The display is amazing, movies and pictures look great in this computer. The overall performance is decent, I strongly recommend to increase the RAM to 2 Gb, this will make the windows vista to run faster and will make a drastic improvement in performance.
The case of this notebook is solid and scratch resistant, this baby weights around 6 pounds and is not difficult to carry around. The battery last approximately 2.45 hrs depending on the application audio and video will demand more power.
The Wi-Fi works smooth and with very good range, at the Kennedy airport I had better signal strength that other more expensive laptops. The DVD burner works pretty good also, I can burn a full DVD in less than 3 minutes.
The feature that I like most from this computer is its beauty, this is a laptop that will turn heads and eyes over you and everyone would think that you have paid a lot more money.
Bottom line, If you are looking for a great Value and for you the looks are important this is an excellent choice, however if you expect a $600 laptop to perform like a $2,000 buy something else.

Love it, but run a crapware device!
Great product - the screen is amazing, plenty fast, plenty powerful. I was also afraid of vista, but it's been better than I thought it would (I've been running Ultimate, though). Keyboard comfortable, sounds just fine (but I'm no audiophile). It does come with a crapload of crapware, however! I would recommend running a decrapifier on it before you do anything else, which takes some time. I also upgraded to 2GB RAM, also recommended for the operating system. but for the price, this can't be beat...although I think the $600 I paid for it on amazon is no longer available...too bad.
Also, note the absence of a PCMIA card slot (there is a card slot, but it's something else), and the wireless b/g access doesn't include the new standard "n" access, which I think could become a problem in the next few years.

Great entry level computer for teen (non gamer)
I bought this at Best Buy for my 14 yr old. It was on sale for $349 as a closeout, marked down from $499. The only model they had was the floor model so they took even more off. I paid a total of $384 for this notebook, a neoprene bag and tax.
I am upgrading the memory to 2 gig and am also looking into downgrading to xp. I will see how it runs with more memory.
Yes it is slow, but removing all the bloatware helps quite a bit. This is a perfect entry level computer for a student to browse the internet and do homework and I couldn't pass it up at the price.
I do dislike vista. My oldest has it on his desktop and it runs like a rabbit, but this is on a supercharged gaming machine.

Overall Satisfied
I am overall satisfied with the Vaio NR240E. Had to adjust to the whole Vista thing, but I managed. I agree with other statements of too much 'bloatware', but whatever what computer doesn't come with unnecessary software trials on it now a days. I did have to use tech support already though, which didn't make me happy. I suggest to anyone that has a Vaio, don't call the number you will be on hold FOREVER,but I did use the online chat help and someone assisted me in seconds. Like I said, overall I am satisfied with it and I use it for pretty much everything from school work to video games to just plain browsing...and it works awesome.

Nice Laptop for price
I got this laptop for my sister because she's entering college, and so far she loves it. Of course like every other review, you have to play with it first. I took a lot of the bloatware out (about 3 hours of work), and installed my own software in. Then defrag the comp. For a 1.6 duo core with 1G of ram, it's surprising fast enough to do what my sister needed to do.
The wireless issue that some reviews are commenting on, she has not experienced. There's wireless internet at home, her friends house, and school, and she's able to connect to all of them with ease. It evens saves the password from the router and when the laptop picks up the signal it automatically logs her in. She loves the wireless on/off button. When she knows there's no internet available she just clicks it off and saves battery life.
This is good general everyday use laptop. It's been great for a college student. My recommendation is to upgrade the ram. 1G of ram is sufficent by all means, but you can never have enough ram. Battery life is a little short. I'm probably gonna upgrade her laptop to 2G of ram, and an extended battery. Other than that she loves it, and we highly recommmend it to anyone.
