5 stars early crowning death metal cd
this cd put death metal at the forfront may other were playing it morbid angel, obituary, entombed, possessed and many consider the whole uk grindcore thing but not me.ths was a how to of sorts to the world (florida style.thi was more than screams and super fast guitars and blast beats.this was brutally heavy guitar riffs with controlled speed bursts and thunderious drumming fast double bass and great time changes.this cd scream fury and power with controll and restraint, not fast and oveer the top as possible this said watch this (i'll show you musicial brutallity with talent!
did you ever wonder what could have been if the line up would have recorded another cd WELL check out massacre-from beyond (rick rozz, bill andrews, terry butler and an eary death/mantis member kam lee)record just after deaths spirtiual healing tour fell apart. It's brutal, mid paced riffs with furiously breaks with simple heavy death metal roots.nothing like chuck would have done but not far from leprosy style or progressive as future death either.

5 stars A huge leap forward.
I would say the leap from Scream to Leprosy was comparable to the jump Slayer made from Show to Hell.
Better songwriting.
Better lyrics.
All around bigger and better.
Insanely brutal. Awesome production. All these years later it still sounds brutal, fresh and totally relevant.
Death's masterpiece without a doubt.

5 stars Death's first step
this was Deaths 2nd cd and was leaps and bounds better than their debut. Solid production and awesome songs. The great Chuck S. started using timing/offbeat aspects to the music instead of straight speed giving the disc a dark feel and the solos are excellent here.

This would be the beginning of Death's more eccentric music, though nothing compared to 'Sound of Perseverence' this Cd was the start of something special. Chucks vision was much clearer than on 'Scream Bloody Gore'. Guitar wise its pretty straight forward, not nearly as intricate as on later stuff, but the heaviness is there. And the riffs are memorable. The drum sound on this cd is great for its time. Hits hard.

Best tracks : Pull the Plug, Left To Die, Open Casket.. But all are really good. Biggest disapointment is the length and fact that there are only 8 racks.

This is a staple, and one of THE essential metal cd's of all time.. Along with Met's 'Ride', Slayers 'Reign' and Kreator's 'Extreme aggressions'. A must for all serious headbangers.

5 stars Why don't you - PULL THE PLUG!!!
Leprosy...ahh... raw and brutal and the defintion of what a death metal.

Pull the Plug has got to be one of the tightest death metal songs written and there are highlights galore on this one. If you don't have this one you are retarded.

5 stars Absolutely Brilliant
For this merely being Death's second album, it is amazing the extent of maturity they have gone through from Scream Bloody Gore. Of course, Death is still presenting us with a tasty plate of raw, crushing brilliance that was trademarked by their first album, but the songs are beginning to sound more structured. Chuck's vocals are much, much better (at least to me) than from Scream Bloody Gore and the overall sound quality seems to be at an equilibrium between polished and raw. It is still, by all standards, fairly typical old-school death metal, but it is above par in comparison to many of the bands of that day and age. Brutal, fast, and top to bottom quality DM.

Song Favorites: "Born Dead," "Left to Die," "Pull the Plug," and "Open Casket." (Open Casket is my all time fav)
