Another favorite from John
This is one of my absolute favorites of any CD. I desperately wish John would do another disc with Christian songs/hymns. As a Protestant, I cannot agree with the lyrics of one song, but the melody is utterly delightful. And whose spirit does not soar with Ave'Maria? Every song here is extraordinary; most are more traditional. There is a good variety in the tracks, any of which could become a favorite; this CD is loaded with comfort & inspiration. This disc gives a wonderful balance to John's body of work. His versatility is astounding; I have a favorite John McD disc for every mood or season. Wish he had a live show on the west coast.

Sub-par
This CD in my estimation is less than one star. It is very ordinary - reminds me of an average church choir. Very plodding. I bought it as a Christmas present for my wife. After listening to a few songs, she asked me if we could return it. Wish we could.

Great is Thy Faithfulness
I was first introduced to John McDermott on the Irish Tenors DVD. I love his Irish accent and of course the songs that he sings on this CD are all so well known. Wonderful CD

Wonderful,Relaxing,Encouraging
This CD has given me such joy. John McDermott is one of my favorite artists. He gives such depth to these beautiful songs. I have listened to this over and over, and have given it to many of my friends as gifts. You will enjoy this for years, these songs stand the test of time. I hope he records more hymns like this in the future.

Inspiration, Indeed!
The subtitle of this John McDermott release is "Songs of Inspiration. Regardless of one's religion or spiritual bent, I think everyone will find this to be a very true statement. Starting with the Cat Stevens gem, Morning Has Broken, and ending with an absolutely glorious rendition of the Lord's Prayer, this CD just proves that John is getting better all the time. The arrangements are lovely and, as always, the musicians are the cream of the crop. The harp of Erica Goodman is prominent on some of the songs especially The Lord's Prayer and she has a gift for that instrument like no other. The CD starts on a high note and ends on an even higher one. John's lush tenor soars to the rafters and you just don't want the CD to end. It's THAT good! John sings the lovely Jerusalem, the Holy City on this CD and it's been more than worth the wait. His part of this song on the Irish Tenors Home for Christmas CD was only a tease. Here is John doing the song solo and it's a marvelous version. Lord of the Dance and Amazing Grace have you singing along. John starts Amazing Grace a cappella and that voice is just so beautiful. By the end of the song, it has a gospel sound that has you smiling and lost in the words and melody. When going through some very tough times this past year, this CD became a friend that helped me through them. One can always depend on a John McDermott CD to bring beauty and joy into their life. This one can help heal as well. It is perfection!
